Answered a Facebook marketplace ad for someone needing to get rid of some oak trees. Drove by last week and went there today to get the wood. After closer inspection (I looked from the street last week) some of it was not going to be any good. But I told the lady I would take care of the trees, so I did. I believe it to be white oak, and it has been standing dead for awhile. Her horses have been chewing the bark off the trees, and it's killing them. Should get a bunch more next year. This stuff gets rock hard the longer it sits, until it rots. Cut 6 or so trees down. Had one leaning to the fence and street that I had to rig so i didn't loose the fence. I couldn't get my trailer through the gate, so I used the truck to skid the logs to the trailer. Worked good. Here are a few shots I took while I was there. Like I said, some will get culled, but most is still good and will make BTU's, Looked at some other trees across the street, but looks like they are going to be mostly rotten. Told the elderly gentleman that I can't sell rotten wood, but that I would grab a couple of friends and come by and drop the trees, buck them up and pile them to burn. He's a real nice guy and since he is 85 years old, and has had two knees, a hip and cancer, it looks like he needs some help.
That's some nice oak, almost ready to burn. Good job. We cut some hollow, center rot oaks yesterday as well.
