    Patience
    By Jason Nelson

My pastor said in a sermon, “Patience is going at someone else’s speed.” Wow! That is profound. I never heard that before. I was glad I was paying attention. I wish I would have heard it a long time ago. I thought patience was what I needed to exercise because people weren’t going at my speed. You mean all those times I was pushing others along, they were really being patient with me?

I guess it all depends on our internal clocks. Mine is a stopwatch. I always hear the sound of time running out. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. I think my wife’s internal clock is an hourglass. Maybe that’s why she regularly asks me, “What’s the hurry?” And God’s internal clock is eternity. It’s rush proof. We are more likely to lose patience with God than he is to lose patience with us. We get tired of waiting around for him to do something.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:8,9).

God has been patient with us for thousands of years. I think he will continue to be patient with us until he sees it is no longer in our best interest.

T.Jeff Veal Thanks for the lesson on Patience. Mine ran out yesterday and I sadly let my frustrations take over. With God's grace today, I hope to better.

I see that Michigan actually had two days of flyovers. One day was the a10's and the c130's, and there were blue angels over Detroit area a different day. WATCH: Michigan National Guard conducts flyovers over metro Detroit

I did the same this afternoon. Did mine and the neighbor's but didn't have to do entire yards - some areas are still thinking about starting to grow.

Back to the hospital for a follow up and get my IV access replaced. They are going bad about every 2nd or 3ed day. Even the midline failed. They tried 3 times before they got the IV in. Also got a follow up chest x ray. Seems I also had CHF (congestive heart failure) while I had the pneumonia and the bacteremia, (blood infection). I had a few other cardiac diagnoses, tons of meds. So glad I came back negative for Covid. So now I just stay isolated, getting lots of rest. We had a beautiful day of sunshine today. I set some plants outside. I can bring them back in should it turn cold again. Seems a lot of folks are doing at home projects this year. Make the most of what we otherwise have no control over.

Up to Our Lord, and a bunch of my getting some of my bad habits in control. Like weight and mobility. Both heavily weighted against me. I have left the salt shaker alone. Don't care for Mrs. Dash. Do like vinegar.

That's a drag about the IV's. I hope the antibiotics are over soon. I'm glad you got outside a little. Going to plant any tomatoes this year?
