I've tried to do a search for this, but came up with nothing. I purchased a Husqvarna 450E with 20" bar. It was a real decent price so I took it with the 20" bar. I have a Stihl with a 16" bar which does a good job for me on the usual 10-12" logs I get dropped of to me. I'm waiting for parts to get my Stihl going again thanks to everyone's help with that problem. I came across this Husqvarna and thought what would it hurt to have two saws, if one is good two has to be better right? Anyway, I'm wondering if it would be worth it to change it out to a shorter bar and if you feel so, do I stay with a Husqvarna bar or is there brand that you guys prefer? Thanks for your wisdom.

Well, there’s a lot of factors here. If you want to buy a boutique bar, Sugihara and Tsumura make great ones, as does Cannon. If you are not looking to spend a fortune, check out any non chinese made bar.

How would you know? I don't recall that being listed on bars the few times I was looking for bars...

Just got a Made in China bar off eBay that "said" it was a Sten, Made in US. Butt---
"Silver Streak" branded. Got it at 1/2 the price of a Stihl; not worth going cheap.:emb:
Am I screwed ? What to look out for ?

Yes. I been bitten before, too, on other things. It's not worth going cheap, especially with your saw. That's exactly why I asked for you all's wisdom on this. Thank you.

I have had good luck with the Forester green and red bars. The green one on my 026 has at least a hundred cord on it and has just started to loose paint, the red one on my 394 I have no clue how much use it has had as it was used when I got it.

I have found the Oregon power match bars to be a no nonsense dependable bar.

Screwed, no. I personally try as hard as possible to not make china great by going out of my way to avoid the made in china goods. The constant consumption of their goods does not help America. That’s my motivation.

I like Oregon brand. And as far as having a smaller bar- if you already have a 16”, I would stick with the longer one. What’s the point in having two tools the same size?

If ,while you are shopping bars , and run across Total bars , they are rebranded Tsumuras .
They are generally less expensive than Tsmuras , so win win .

Yes, I get you on the having two saws the same length. I was just thinking down the road, I might sell one. I guess I'll worry about it at that time. As I get older it gets a lot harder to handle the saws and splitting, as some of you know, but it's something I really enjoy doing. Outside in the fresh air working up some firewood, doing some thinking, ain't nothing like it.

Everything needs adjusting with time Barns...especially in your lower regions.:hair:
With saws, the bars and cc's seem to go down and down with the 3 score and 10 plus. My go to saws are 14" and 16", no more; 261 , 170 (trails ) and a well banged up 009L ( rare climbing).
Hey, the guys always said : " only two things to worry about in life....first you live, then you die" . All else is intermission and fun.

Oregon or Forester. I have both on a lot of my saws with no issues and they seem to wear well. On the Forester like was previously mentioned get the green or red.
