So I took a 45 min drive after work lastnight to look at a round baler for sale and on the way back I stopped at my significant others 10 acre piece down that way to see how the hay was growing and the last time I was there I seen a chunk of dead elm broke off so I was going to cut that up well I was there. So o checked the hay and grabbed the saw and topped it off with gas and oil, walked out to the tree and went to start it. 2 pulls and I look down... Ya I didn't close the oil cap as good as I was thinking, first time I have ever done that, covered my whole leg and boot in bar oil. It has been really nice here soon have had the OWB shut down for about 2 weeks now,. But we have a cold spell going through right now, was 20something last night and looking like highs in the mid 40s all week. The significant other was complaining the house was cold ( I mean it was 59 in side, how warm do you want it lol). So after saying not to even think about clothes coming off tell it was warmer I restarted the OWB last night.
Keep the house warm! It's much easier in the long run, trust me on that one. I've got a couple pair of chaps that I've "waterproofed" the same way, it happens.
jmb6420 Lol, I am sure, I had already did a "soil mosture" test before I checked the hay MikeInMa Oh it still came home with me, after I called my self a idiot for a while and refilled it with oil lol. Burning some right now. Wasn't a lot, few days worth in the boiler but helps keeps me for having to burn my stacked oak for this winter.
You do the oil on your pants trick once and you never do it again. I’ve done that and now I’m almost ocd about making sure both caps on good.
Sometimes it is not that you forget to close the cap but screw it on wrong... Yes, I've done that with both gas and oil. I expect the hay has a long way to go before it is ready.
It does, but it is looking really good, up about 3-4inchs already. Looks better then our main hay field. I still have so much to do... So much and get ready before hay season, but still hoping it grows fast lol
They took the winter barley off across the road the other day...probably see 1st crop hay being cut within 3-4 weeks...maybe sooner if it actually gets warm and stays warm...
Grass with some redclover in it. Would like to drill some alfalfa in it. brenndatomu We are about 2-3 weeks out on first crop alfalfa at work if it gets warm again.
