My buddy is part of a group that travels to Canada every year to open the big Boy Scouts camp. They go up for a week at a time and, over several weeks, get the camp ready for another summer of scouts. They have a Stihl 025 that needs a new bar and some chains. I am going to donate these items as I'm not able to go up and actually work. He doesn't know what the saw is currently outfitted with, just that it's all pretty much shot. They want to run an 18" B&C. I want to set it up with 3/8 lowpro stuff. I'll get the chain from MasterMech if he still has some available. I want to send along a rim sprocket also just to be sure everything is compatable. Can anybody confirm the following part numbers as correct? Rim Sprocket: #0000 642 1240 And Stihl bar: #3005 000 4817 Thanks in advance.
Those numbers are correct for a 025 set up for a 7 tooth rim and running 3/8ths low pro picco chain. That bar # is a 18" X .050" X 3/8ths low pro picco chain for a 025 Stihl. I have a couple 025's and a MS250 and they all came from the factory with a .325 spur sprocket 7 tooth. I like 16" bars on these as they get rather slow in a 14"-16" diameter trunk compared with running a bigger saw.
Love the wealth of knowledge you have! I was reading the OP and was gonna comment, "I hope someone comes along shortly and helps you". That is very generous of you to do Dew. God bless you and those kids will surely appreciate the donation.
Does this saw already have a rim sprocket setup? The part number mentioned is only for the rim and most 025's/MS250's have spur sprockets on them. 1123 007 1001 - 7T 3/8"P Rim Sprocket Kit, includes the rim, the drum, the e-clip, and the washer. 0000 642 1240 - 7T 3/8P" Rim Sprocket only You might consider keeping it a spur sprocket and using the 6T Picco spur sprocket. 1123 640 2005 - 6T 3/8"P Spur Sprocket 1123 640 2000 - 7T 3/8"P Spur Sprocket
We don't know!!! It was kind of an afterthought after his work week up there this year. There is a local fella going back soon for another week and I want to send everything with him. The Spur Sprocket would be lock down safe to send with bar and chains regardless of current set up right?
The BSA council local to us owns property for their camp in Ontario called Cache Lake Camp. Via water, it's about 8 miles north of Crane Lake, MN. I think they put their boats in at the border and everything goes to camp via boat. Pretty awesome deal for a boy to go off to scout camp.
You could send either a spur or the rim sprocket kit. Price the rim kit as they often are not much more than a spur sprocket.
