Today’s project - outer rocker on the drivers side of the truck. 15 years of Michigan winters took its toll. I did the passenger side a couple years ago. Been putting off the drivers side.

First pic - before. Second, bunch of acorns and a nest that fell out. Guess a chipmunk made a home. Third, what was left after I cut out the rot. And last, the end result.

A bit of cutting, a bit of welding, some seam sealer, but of bondo, some sanding, primer, paint and job done. Good enough for this neighborhood. The inner rockers weren’t bad. I tacked in a couple pieces of steel to fill in a hole and shot it with spray on undercoating.

Full disclosure - I am not and don’t profess to be an auto body expert. I fall somewhere between hack and semi-competent. The truck has almost 190K on it and I’m hoping to get a few more years out of it before rust takes something structural out. Don’t think that will happen any time soon, but I hate rust holes in my vehicles. The passenger side has held up pretty good, but it hasn’t seen too much road salt the past couple years.

I hauled some golf carts yesterday to the local campground near me . 600 plus sites , it looked like 4th of July weekend . If we do get a second wave I think I know where ground zero is !

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I’d call it a 10/25 job. It looks good from 10 feet or when driving 25 MPH. I got a price from a body shop a few years ago and they wanted $2500 to do both outer rockers. That price was enough motivation to figure it out myself. I bought the rocker panels for $75/pair off fleabay, have a few bucks into seam sealer, welding wire, cut off wheels, paint and body filler. I’d guess I’m into it for about $175 total.

The truck gets used as a truck, so it doesn’t need to look perfect. It’s been pretty good to me for 6 years. Only major repairs have been gas tank straps, radiator, brakes and all new brake lines. As much as I’d love to have a newer truck, I’d rather have my house paid off first. :D

Strange. We have yet to go to a casino even though many have tried to talk us into "having some fun" at a casino. But it always amazes me to hear how much money people do win at those places. Of course, you never hear about the times they lose...

Has 99 been putting any baking pounds on U since this chit started?

I made some spaghetti sauce today so the wife can make some stuff bell peppers tomorrow, I've put on 6 pounds the last time I scaled myself but I'm thinking it's all muscle from the Beech c/s/s.

After talking with Mrs. Backwoods Savage today when Mr. was out on his tractor, she thought it was all muscle too.

I do work for a couple casinos up north and one of the bigger ones in Detroit. Let’s just say I see more people walking out looking like someone just kicked their dog than giving each other high fives.

The security office at one of the Detroit casinos is right by one of their ATMs. while waiting 15 minutes for my security escort one day I saw the same person go to the ATM three times.

I’d guess I’ve spent $100 gambling in my entire life. Just not my thing, but some seem to enjoy it. To each their own.

    Yes!

Only saving grace I have is that with the daily walk (sometimes three) and the nicer weather, I have been much more active outside.....once the back joins the rest of the body, that is.

With that added activity, I'm less apt to scrounge the refrigerator every time I walk through the kitchen! this commercial reminds me of myself! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Not bragging here guys, but I've actually lost a few pounds. My local restaurant being closed, I'm eating lunches at the shop, & tend to eat less. Also more time for outdoor work since the work slow down. I'm enjoying more wood & less cars. Sadly it's getting busy again, but the weather's supposed to go bad again anyway, so back to the warm dry shop.
