I slept like crap last night. So I took my first nap of the year on the couch on the porch, a nice 2 hour one. When I woke up the wind had died down considerably, so I just put the boat in the water. GTG for tomorrow.

Ok I have a simple crockpot that I love
High. Low and warm. That is what I love. Many times I have made a velveeta, sausage dip for a GTG, etc and it can be on for awhile. Real works well for keeping things from burning love that feature.

This afternoon it actually got up to almost 70. Took a ride up to the crossover and relaxed there for a bit. Then Chaz took over and drove us up the logging trail to the other side of our property up by the top. Springs are flowing. On the way 20200502_164243.jpg back snapped a couple pics. Don't know if they really give you an idea of how steep that area is.

I had to give the truck exercise today, to get the battery charged back up after sitting a week. Went to Wally World and saw that I did not at all like any of the multi-functionpots, so will probably just get the newer version as to the one I have. It has an auto feature (cooks at high or low temp for as long as you set, then goes to warm), and the manual. I usually use the auto because I never know when I'm getting out of work (9.5 to 15 hours), or how long my commute will be (1-2 hours). Even when I'm home, I forget it's going :emb: so need the automatic change over to warm.

I've been outside pretty much all day. I finished making a ramp in front of the barn from all p.t. scrap 5/4 deck boards. There was about a foot drop from the barn floor to the ground. Theground has a rise right outside the doors, so it is only a 5 degree pitch. No more driving the tractor on two planks out the doors.

    20200502_091816.jpg

The dirt was loaded with stones all carefully laid. I believe this was done to keep the soil from getting muddy. It made hand digging pretty tough and the iron bar was used a lot. Those old Yankees knew a thing or two.

The two doors slide past the ends of the ramp in case they need to be taken down for repairs. I found all sorts of old iron spikes, nail and a nice milk bottle in good shape.

After lunch, I worked on the front landscaping. The prior owner had huge arborvitaes taken out and it needed some help. I'm not a huge fan of landscaping, but just enough to make it look better.

    Halfway...

I just re-used the old concrete edgers and made a smaller radius. Farm and feed did not have dark brown mulch, so we went with black. No other plans here. There are lilly of the valleys and ferns here. The whole area was shallow roots from the old shrubs.

Grass will get planted tomorrow in the dirt areas. I plan on getting a new lamp post at some point, or make one and fabricate a nice copper carriage lantern top. I do like those Cape Cod onion lights, but we dont have a cape-style house here. Two crab apples were planted out front here. Prior owner had the brick foundation painted. I would love to have the natural brick with a sealer showing. Oh well.

Feet are up, and some adult beverages are down.

I got the over grown hedge evergreens cut down that were growing over the pool. Was keeping my eyes peeled for snakes as it’s finally warming up here. Then glanced up and my big brown rat snake has made it another winter
