I would bet your local hardware store would have them - unless you're talking about a 20' pole that you set in the ground.

The lid on my older Hamilton Beach stay-or-go programmable crock pot released part of its seal piece (well, didn't lose it, but it just hangs there now). The lid is a special order so will take 2 weeks or so to get from the factory, then they send to me.

That would be fine, but the cost is $17 for the lid and another $17 for shipping. So, I'm thinking to replace the whole thing instead since I could get a comparable new unit for $40.

So now my question, should I get an instapot type (multi-function)? If so, what are suggestions brand and model? Keep in mind I am not looking to spend a huge amount of money - max $100. I would also prefer something with a smaller foot print (roundish and taller as to short and wide) - but that is't a deal breaker either.

I see that Wally World has a Crock Pot Express for ~$70 but want to know if anyone out there has other suggestions.

The reason I would like a smaller footprint - this is a 5-6 quart crockpot bu the only "counter" that is large enough is the stove top.

Here is the seal malfunction - really can't bitch, I think this is 15 years old

Does that Hamilton Beach only crock pot or does it do other things? Curious because none of my crock pots ever had a rubber seal.

The HB is only a crock pot but it is a Stay and Go - made for traveling. Never had a spill during transport to a function and the lid is acrylic (I believe), not glass. Also has a hole for a temp probe (for roasts and whole chickens etc), but I've never used that feature.

I tried that and used it that way yesterday. But the heat forced it back apart and a lot of the moisture was lost. Fortunately I was making a soup, but if it had been a roast or something with little added liquid, it would have been burnt.

Not using a glue in this situation. The seal is kept in place by pressure between the acrylic lid and a metal band pressed on.

Just get some liquid bandage, that's just medical grade Sooper glue...and people use regular Sooper glue on cuts all the time anyways.

Hold up! If yer gonna do a roast and you’re concerned about that seal going south- hook a bungee cord to one side of the range, stretch it taut (beware of snap back bungee eye) and grab up under the other side of the range. Voilà!!!
    Moist roast in no time!:D
You can thank me later BB....
