so I'm just about out of bar and chain oil . I was looking for some online and found that rural king has Cam2 bar oil for 6 bucks a gallon. Thats about half price of the other brands. Has anyone used the stuff?? Also what oil are you guys using?? Do you stick with one brand or do you use any bar oil available??

Every time i go to the stihlership bar oil goes up another dollar. Screw them!
Watch Tractor Supply Co and Rural King, they both runs sales at $5-6 /gallon.
    They're all the same...
I'm using a 25 yr old jug of poulan oil i found in dad's garage right now. Stickiest/stringiest stuff I've ever seen.

I have not used the Cam2 oil but I am sure it is fine. What I watch for in cheaper bar oils is sedament in the bottom of the jug. I would rather throw away the last couple ounces in the gallon than put that crud in my saws. Seems like it wasn't that long ago bar oil was two bucks a gallon

If you use canola, most will fling right off the bar at the tip. I tried a non-specific b/c chain oil once, it didn't end well... no tacifiers to keep it stuck on the return to that saw. Most oilers I know apply oil to the top of the bar.

I use the Tractor Supply stuff and it does fine. Can sometimes find it on sale for a deal.

I use whatever is cheapest. Tractor supply has had sales recently (dont know if they still do) at $7 gallon. I usually pay 10-12 at a big box store. Customer of mine gave me a gallon of Echo brand back in January.
Regardless of brand/type just make sure it gets enough. IMG_2409.JPG

I've used cam2. Seems to work just fine.

I usually buy whatever on sale for $5 a gallon. I don't like the stuff at fleet farm though. Tall timber I think? It's red and flies off too easy. To me it looks like used ATF.

Ill keep an eye out for the sales. Its good to see that all everyones opinions seem to follow the same logic. I dont mind laying out the cash but if the higher cost doesnt come with some benefit.......

I too have run dozens if not hundreds of gallons of the County Line oil with no issues. I buy a dozen at a time when on sale. Usually twice a year.

Really like the extreme winter blend. Husqvarna oil not so much. None of my saws seem to like it.

Here's my analogy. Would you rather burn silver maple or oak? Bars and chains are not cheap. I want to get the most life of mine and I feel sub-par bar oil won't do that. There is a reason why some is $5 and some is $10 or more. I do think some of the name brands are a bit over priced.:headbang:
