    Yeah, I'm curious myself. I'm hoping in three or four years they'll be rotted enough I can smash out what's left of them with the axe and smooth out the area so I can go directly over it with the mower.
    I've never tried any method before except the burning of old dry stumps. The one's I've left alone took many years to go away. Of course species plays a big role as well.

    I’d say closer to 2-3 years. Not 3-4. Been doing that method here since I was a kid. You’ll be impressed.

    Are cottonwood any good for fire wood? Ive tried to split them in the past and they are a bugger!

    It’s Better than freezing. I don’t mess with to much of it unless it’s a super easy score.

    Sure it was cottonwood? The stuff I’ve split has been pretty easy.

    Yeah pretty sure... It was just really stringy and was a pain in the azz to pull apart. Besides that not much much heat value in that stuff.
