Had a woman contact me via Facebook asking if I wanted some oak...well yeah duh! Pulled up this morning to a pile that was 2/3 cherry and 1/3 pine. 15 minutes and I was on my way.

I would rather have cherry. Oak is good but I'm too impatient to wait for it to season.

Hard to believe someone thought that was oak. However, I've noticed through the years many folks just claim most trees are maple around here. I really laughed one day way back after I got hurt and had to buy some wood (those were not the good old days). I had about 3 cord of freshly split ash and a friend stopped over and congratulated me because that was a really nice pile of maple I had there.

I had a forester mark trees once and he called ash and basswood something maple.... I looked at him funny and he used them names I know, but then indicated they were maple variants. I never pursued looking it up or selling the logs.
