This home time sure has 99 thinking about moving up the "puppy for us" date.

I don't know if those pics you posted were written by an 8 year old or is it just the skill level of out journalists these days?

I think the intention was to say "Buy a Dog" "Buy a Cat".

Or...……. maybe.... just maybe..... those articles were written "by a dog" and "by a cat"???? :smoke:

I want a black lab pup (English I hope) and she has her heart set on a Bernese Mountain Dog; never mind that I have offered three different times over the last 3-4 years to arrange and get one for her. :headbang::headbang:

    WE FOUND LILA CAT
    LILA CAT IS HOME!!!!!

Unbelievable, neighbor called and said she saw a cat to kiddo jumped into the Blaze to go look. She did not respond to me. Finally gave out a weak meow to kiddo.
She was hiding under a dead salt bush pushed over by a snow drift, 4" from dirt to thorn branches, I had to restrain her to get her to the truck. She will be locked in the garage for a day.
Poor thing is filthy and skinny. She's home <3 <3

Thanks, I'm still in disbelief! Blondie is healing, still wearing a tshirt after all this time, she licks them open again when tried letting her go without the tshirt, hopefully not too much longer. I almost don't recognize Lila, she's so skinny and dirty, even her face is a different shape.

Update on this cat. They found the funds to amputate his leg. He's so clean (and shaved) I almost don't recognize him. Go Traveler!!

Update on Lila, she was begging and threatening to get out of the garage last evening so we unlocked her cat door. Today while it rained she was back on her cat tree in the enclosed porch :) She is eating a lot, looks like it will take awhile for the weight to come back, and she's still filthy! She has her white feet white again, sure she'll get her tummy, chest and face soon.

Looks like all the kitties are doing well. I wouldn't mind a cat, actually used to have some. But unfortunately, when I became pregnant with my oldest I developed any allergy to cats. I hate it when I am around them and can't pet them.

When I worked at the vet I used to take extra shifts in the kennels. Talking like 40 3x3x3' cat cages per day for cleaning and disinfecting including vaccinating many more new intakes later in the day, so touching many cats per day. About 1/3 set my eyes, nose and throat off, the other 2/3 of them absolutely no reaction. Unfortunately WWW has had a weird cough for a couple years, the docs couldn't figure it out, we finally figured out it started when we brought Cocoa, our house cat home  He's 1/2 of a bath (that's all he would tolerate), I'll do my best "train" him for baths (our previous cat had ringworm as a kitten, so he was used to it, but I did not bathe Cocoa as a kitten, so this will be interesting). Get all the saliva off his fur from him grooming himself, which is what causes most of cat allergies. Wish me luck trying to train a cat

Best tip for cat bathing I have is to put a couple of inches of warm (not hot) water in the tub. Once the water is done running, place the cat into the water - try for a side laying position at first - then as it tries to roll over on its feet, press down between the shoulder blades. A lot of cats will just about freeze at that point. Keep one hand pressing down there during the entire bath. Just cup water over their back slowly so it doesn't splash and make noise. Course doesn't work for every cat, but often enough it's worth a try

Oh yea, a few tips on what not to do:
    • Don't try to use a sink - the edges are too close and tempts them to try to grab them for leverage to escape.
    • Don't leave the shower curtain on - same reason as bullet #1
    • Don't leave the bathroom door open - the cat knows there is freedom out there. They also understand about closed doors.
DO have several large bath towel to wrap the cat in once your done bathing it. That will keep claws from coming out and give you time to sooth the kitty if it has gotten worked up.

i used to wrap masking tape around their paws and they were so busy trying to get it off, I had time to bath them before I got scratched. After the tape gets wet it doesn't take much to get it off them.
