Well, the homestead has been prepped, the bags are packed, the cage is loaded and @ the break of dawn I'm heading south to the great state of PENNSYLVANIA for a week of R&R. Gonna spend a week kickin back on the Loyalsock , visiting my best friend and his ever increasing family. Make an annual trek down to see em. We just sit by the water, relax, fish, burn a pile of wood in the fire pit and just plain enjoy it all. Since I won't be anywhere close to any technology I'll just have to get my FHC fix when I get back. Everybody enjoy and stay safe.
I just got back from the same type of trip. I did have cell service but I literally shut it off for a bit over a week and focused on family time and it was great!
no technology will be great, I went without for a week and realized how much life is run by tech. looking forward to disconnecting in the future, except for what I want to use.
I grew up on "The Sock." OK. Maybe not ON it. But that's where we swam and fished; mostly at the Pa. 973 (Slabtown) bridge which was washed away in 2011. If you cross the creek at that point, going west from Rt 87; turn right as soon as you come off the bridge, you're on Wallis Run Rd. Go about 6-7 miles and our hunting camp is on the right where Jacoby Run enters Wallis Run. Wallis Run drains into Loyalsock Creek. Spent many a spring weekend canoeing from Barbours, down the Sock to the Susquehanna River. Worked part-time at the Pa Game Commission's pheasant farm right there at 973 for a couple seasons too. Enjoy the vacation. It's a beautiful area.
