I scrounged some wood at the dump today and grabbed this. Cant figure out what it is. Grain texture and density equivalent of black locust. Only piece i saw. IMG_2346.JPG IMG_2347.JPG IMG_2348.JPG
Split it when i got home. IMG_2353.JPG
The end of the dead limb attached to it had the same reddish heartwood. IMG_2354.JPG
    What is this?

I think honey locust as well. I've picked it up at the dump a few times for sure!

    Honey Locust. All day.

I’ve got about a cord and half of it stacked on my property. I find a fair amount of it in Denver. It’s incredible wood. SUPER dense. It’s a bit hard to get started because it is so dense, but it’ll burn all night if you toss a chunk on before bed. It does take quite a while to season though. I typically let it season for 2 years before I burn it.

How does your isocore like it? Mine bounced, so I hydraulically split and even that was rough. Several stalls on my big splitter.

it was only one log and it split rather easily. It was fresh cut.
