If you use this chain was wondering if you have ever tried Oregon which says 22LPX is the cross. Or any of the other brands. The easiest way to say it the saw gets used by some people that have no clue. I can't see spending a lot on real good chains for people that think saws can cut dirt rocks and what else in the way. I can't be there all the time watching and plus if I where my blood pressure would be through the roof. Hard enough finding brand new box's on the floor with 30 plus dollar price tags on them and a pile of used chains in the corner of the trailer . That never where asked to be ground So my plan is to fix and grind these chains hang them up in trailer with a tag on them saying date and sharpened. I will put a few new box's in trailer with new inexpensive ones. That way when they go to get or have parts guy get the will use the new number. Thanks for any other suggestions.
I just looked at my baileys catalogue and their price for the LPX was only a $1.50 cheaper than my stihl chain. You didn't mention what length your running. The RM will stay sharper longer than the RS chain but none will last very long in dirt and rocks.
You can buy the best chain in the book And mud and rocks will destroy them nearly at the same rate. Can you make the user hand file them? Maybe they will catch on.....
Hand filing by those same folks that don't care enough about KEEPING a chain sharp may be just as bad as hitting dirt or rocks. Typically, unless the person using the chain is the same as the person paying for the chain, it's hard to remedy the situation. Is there any way to get their skin in the game with some sort of incentive program? Carrot or the stick?
Sorry, saw has a 20" bar on it. Forester has it for 13.64 Oregon 22LPX074G 17.39 Amazon prime just checked quick. I guess I will just order a couple of each and see what happens. Unless someone points me in another direction. I found 5 in trailer brought them in . I ground 2 tonight . Hit the next 3 on rainy day. Couple are in bad shape see how they work out
