Brad I have to wonder even with 2 x 6 if the middle of that rack might tend to be a bit weak. I doubt it will break but I would expect it to have some bow in it. I hope I'm wrong.
That was my first thought also. Time, weight and gravity never rest. Nice stacks though.........and its Locust!!!!
Of course the sag factor did cross my mind Backwoods Savage , MikeInMa , MAF143 & metalcuttr . The ends are well supported so the 4x4's with droop along the length and the 2x6 will sag some over time but this will pull the the outside stacks inward...at least thats the plan by design. Hoping gravity works with me. Ive done similar stacks with pallets and its worked. What is the weight of two cords of black locust?
Btw - that’s one nice board of BL - nice going. Um, nice rack too and really; I’m not complaining.... but... It’s sagging already! Stay safe
I bet even if it sagged and some locust was touching the ground it would be fine. It’s very rot resistant.
None at this point. I’ve only had a tiny amount. I loved the bit that I had though. Not an easy wood to find.
so thats 7480 lbs. At 16' thats 467.5 lbs per foot. I stood on one of the 2x6's in the center and im 235lbs+/- (all muscle ) and it deflected only a bit. 25 2x6's so its about 300lbs per 2x6. Thats if i go 4' tall and im already about 5' on the actual wood height. By the numbers.
