It is the first week of turkey season here in Wisconsin. So far the toms have been practicing social distancing. I'm watching lots of other wildlife in the woods, but I find myself looking at all the dead trees around me. Then my thoughts wander to how would I fell this tree, how would I access the wood to haul it out etc. All worthy or maybe disturbed thoughts while waiting for turkeys...
so are you going to gobble up all the dead wood Wisconsin Woody ? A tom came through our yard last week and answered me a few times when i did my turkey call. We get flocks of hens on a regular basis. Even roosting at dusk.
They've been hanging around our house in the morning and night, that brought the fox down here yesterday.
I heard only 2 shots this morning. I'm pretty sure they were from the same gun so probably didn't get a kill on the first shot.
I definitely understand that, I spend more time in a tree stand looking at trees to cut than I do looking for deer. Heck I even count how many of each type of tree I have around me while I'm sitting there sometimes
