Got a load of beech cut, my process is cut tree, (usually) drag it out with the winch, then grab it with the grapple and drag it to an open area to trim off the junk and make a log.

before ^^^ Beech can be very "branchy", these were not too bad growing in fairly dense stand. I have a lot of them and they are almost invasive and the wood does not have much market value going mostly for mud mats. Great btu's and it dry's out well, also for spring cutting it's not as wet as some other hardwoods, it bud's out a bit later than most.
    20200406_113743.jpeg
after^^^ Of course I pinched the saw on the very last limb.
    20200406_113803.jpeg
I'll cut 2 or 3 like that, then throw the >2" limbs into a pile and grab them with the front grapple and haul them off to a wet area and dump them in. The bigger limb wood I'm saving for a cousin.

I used the little truck to haul the wagon up to the area where I work it up because of pure laziness, it has a back up camera to hitch up to the wagon. I don't think I'll do that again, it may have only been my imagination but my nose detected a smell when I got there. I used low range and it's only about 3/4 mile away, mostly flat with one grade that's 1/4m long but not very steep at all.

    ready to work up.

I'll put 2-3 logs on that "table" with the tractor to cut up at a comfortable height and keep the saw out of the dirt, then carry them to the splitter or rack depending on their size.

Tore out my concrete driveway today. The 3039 got most of the concrete up so that i could drop it and bust it. There were a couple pieces that i had to get out the sledge on to bust.

Yep sure did. There is a flange that bends down there and i used it to mount to (i think i used 8 bolts, 5/16 thread). made some brackets out of 4" angle.

I figured the winch was probably the best ballast since it can pull me out too lol.

Yeah i have the tires filled with rimguard. So i think 500 lbs for the winch, 10 weights for 420#, and 630# of rimguard for ballast. Seems like alot of my tractor time is spent on hills and the ballast seems to help. how bout you?

Yes I’m filled my tires with windshield washer fluid. Did it my self and saved some money. It’s not as heavy as some ballast but I’m happy with it. I’m on the hills a lot myself but not so much when using the front bucket.

Thats awesome that you did that yourself and saved some money. Yeah if you are skidding out logs, no rear ballast needed.I end up using the grapple and bucket alot moving stone for my trails and sometimes i will just carry logs out with the grapple if i dont want to get them muddy before putting them on the sawmill.

So more progress on the driveway today. Three pictures of the grapple picking up large pieces of concrete and one of the driveway leveled out and ready to be poured. dumpster1.jpg dumpster2.jpg dumpster3.jpg finished forms.jpg

L3710 is getting new front tires mounted right now. They were the OEM tires an so they were going on 20 yrs and > 1000 hrs. Rear tires are holding up o.k., not looking forward to when they need to be replaced. 20200429_140203.jpg

As long as you have a backhoe, doing the rears won't be real difficult.
