The very powerful cyclone will then pass by to our west and north during the day Monday. This is a very favorable track for high winds for much of our forecast area...and this event will certainly be no exception. In fact...there are suggestions that this could be a high end event with wind gusts possibly exceeding 70 mph for the IAG Frontier. The various forecast packages have been unusually consistent from run to run and with each other during the past couple of days...thus adding confidence to what could be a very concerning...relatively long duration high wind event.
That is some serious wind! It is forecast for us too but so far all they are saying is windy. No forecast on wind speed.
Over here in WNY...We are already being told of probable power outages and tree damage...I put a call in to my friend who owns a tree service to keep me in mind...I told him I wouldn't charge him a dump off fee since its Easter weekend and all...
It's headed here. Expected to arrive Monday morning, sunup. i hope all the tree trimming, over the past few months, pays off. We're on a state Highway. If there's a power outage, our street gets taken care of pretty quick. Regardless, I'm putting up some water just im case. Well/septic here. Always good to flush.
HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 2 AM EDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...Southwest winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected. * WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties. * WHEN...From 10 AM Monday to 2 AM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...This will be a dangerous situation. Very strong winds will result in numerous downed trees and power lines. EXTENSIVE power outages and property damage are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
We're getting hit with wind today. Its suppose to be severe around 1-2 this afternoon. Driving to work was quite fun avoiding all of the debris and trash cans blowing around. My wife said the power has gone off and on about 3 times so far at home, so the family may be in for a long day. I think our house should be ok. Im sure the woods will be a mess. But thats nothing new. Be safe out there!
We got the Blizzard also. Round 3” of heavy wet. snow. Looks like it will be around till the end of the week till the temps go back up! How much you get oldspark ?
I got ready for the wind yesterday. Fired up right away. Went and got 10 gallons of non E gas this morning.
Good wind blowing here in Southern CT and seems to be getting stronger. No flicker of lights, but wouldnt surprise me if power went out. We rent so no genny here. Filled some buckets in bathtub as we have well water. Lower gutter in front was spilling over and i just cleaned it. Surrounded by woods and no new trees down. Wind is roaring loud with some good gusts! Ill take a walk after storm this week to check the woods. Winds this strong usually take something down. Dont take much from my woods as wheelbarrow the only way to retrieve it. Stay safe my fellow hoarders!
It's now at 38 mph. They have cut down on how strong it will get. This is what usually happens here and it is okay with me.
Yep it was headin in you direction. Sounded worse (thunder) than what it was. Blue skies to the west but stihl pretty dark south towards Hanover.
good wind and heavy rain here. Some serious gusts. I was out and about for a bit and torrential rain on highway. Slowed to 40 and flashers on. Got home 430 and power goes out 15 minutes later. Came back on just before six. Broken tree top across wires on side street when i pulled in. (wood score tomorrow???) Broken off leaner 14"DBH dead chestnut oak on our section of driveway. Ill take pics tomorrow.
