I’ve got around 5 pounds of grass seed and a bag of fertilizer left over from last year. Should be good as far as the lawn goes.

Not that it matters as it sounds like we’ll have snow early next week....

My daughter is happy - got the letter from school today saying she graduates on schedule and her diploma will be mailed to her by June 1.

I truly hope that business owners just start ignoring this stupidity. How does the half whit think that not being able to feed ourselves is a good idea! More about control than covid. Anyone that has a second home should start sending monthly maintenance bills right to her office.
Edit: I wonder what happens when the lawn at the second home gets long & you or your lawn service can't mow it? They gonna give ya that citation too.

I wondered the same thing. There aren’t much for lawns around here, and nobody gives two chits if someone’s grass is long. I’ve been known to cut neighbors grass for them if I know they won’t be around for a while. Partly because they’ll drop off some beer when they make it back, partly because I’m the one who has to look at it.

I can only imagine what will happen in the more, shall I say, affluent vacation areas around Traverse City and Petoskey.

Our house is full of many seedlings right now that go out everyday, and come in every night. Soon we will be able to keep them out in the green house. We can't plant warm weather crops until memorial day outside here.

Nobody cares how long your grass is around here, never mind all the logs and pallets I have strewn around and stacked.

The trickle down from this is going to be bad.

After I read through the order, I had the same thoughts.

Just last week she mentioned about sewing masks for a pastime. Now, this week, those supplies would be non essential according to her latest decree!

We'll see just how this works out. :picard:

I have to agree with the travel restrictions between your second homes . Obviously enforcement is not gonna happen but maybe it will keep some people to stay at home .

I live near a “ seasonal park /campground “ and many of the residents have park models or campers and are snowbirds. I winterize and open around 90 of the 500 or so units . There’s going to be a huge influx of people shortly coming into the state because and I quote from post on fb “ it’s too hot here “ “ it’s our home “. Well that’s BS ! Most of them have Florida plates ( they switched to being Florida residents when the previous governor taxed their pensions) so being a Florida resident they pay no state income tax . I do know of another park in Allegan County that the county and state said “ if your 6 month stay has expired then you can come back “. However , the park isn’t opening and no water will be turned on . They are trying to discourage these travelers if at all possible .

With all that said , my wife is a RN /DON and has been a nurse for over 28 years . She’s extremely frustrated that people won’t take this thing seriously. Paint can wait , seeds can be ordered online and grass can get cut later.
Stay home and stay safe !

wishlist that is one of the provisions of this new decree that I fail to agree with. Saying that enforcement won't happen is not accurate as it has already been happening in areas of downstate.

I can not drive to my residence, but any out of state owners can show up at their summer homes. All this is allowed and no mention of imposed quarantine to protect us from whatever they have been exposed to in their state and during the drive up?

Add to this the public safety police/fire doing drive-bys kids houses on their birthdays? How does the gov justify volunteer fighters driving to the fire hall and back and taking the equipment out of the hall as being essential only?

There have also been instances of the victims of covid having a community wide show of support to their survivors, by having a parade of vehicles drive past their residence.... usually led by law enforcement. A nice show of support indeed, but essential?

The order is filled with a lot of contradictions and just plain out control over the residents. This is where the BS exists.

All I see here is the typical BS from lansing that simplifies the "don't cut me, cut the man behind the tree" attitude.

I do hope your wife stays safe. I have 5 immediate and extended family members that are in health care with extremely elevated risks of exposure.

FYI, I do follow the guidelines set forth.

yooperdave, I’m downstate as well and I’m sure we all see different things . Have some close friends who are LEO’s and from them they say enforcement is difficult at best .

I’m sure we all see things that are not “essential “ but I seriously doubt the governor ok’s every time a fire truck does a drive by or a small parade happens .
This stay at home isn’t perfect and some don’t agree with it at all . Example , my golf league has a meeting scheduled at a parking lot of a local drinking hole . Come on , why in the world do we need a meeting right now . Needless to say I’m not going .

I’m out of a few sizes of syrup bottles . I get these at Rudyard in the UP . Although agriculture is open and can legally drive up and buy them I’m not going to. That’s just stops at gas stations , rest areas, and drive thru restaurants.

Another stupid thing, why did Wisconsin hold the election the other day . I just don’t get it .

Saw this on the news last night. It finally made it to the news site.

Traverse City tree cutting company could face fine over non-essential or essential debate

Could be interesting - if the work is deemed non essential, and part of the dead tree lands on the house causing damage, then what? Guessing the homeowner would be on the hook for a deductible and the insurance company would be stuck with repairs and tree removal. I don't see how a crew of three removing a tree constitutes a crowd, but these are strange times.

I had several trees removed when I bought this place, one of which looked to be just a matter of time before it would wipe out the garage (white pine with two leaders, rotten at the base and leaning towards the garage). I asked my insurance agent if I'd get a "proactive homeowner discount" for removing it before it fell and hit the garage and potentially part of the house. He just laughed and said nope....

    Another thing about the gov.....

Just why is it that every hair is in place on her for each and every broadcast speech? Don't tell me that she is getting "made up" by one of those non-essential businesses that she shut down over two weeks ago! Something isn't right here.... Just how the heck does that work?

Another example of "don't do as I do, do as I say". :picard:

There is a lot of things that no doubt have not been thought out very well, for sure. However, I will do my best to stay with the rules, especially that stay-at-home order.

I think mostly she likes it as I do. But no doubt I do get on her nerves at times just like she does on mine. Altogether I think we get along together much better than most.
