That’s what I would call “the showcase stack” something to show off that you never actually plan on burning. My grandpa has firewood storage beside his fireplace in his home in Denver, and it’s been the same wood there since I can remember. He hasn’t burned in that fireplace in probably 30+ yrs. simply there for decor or to “showcase”
wonder what the moisture content is on that wood? Next time you visit, split one and stick a MM in it!
Probably read “error” or “impossible”. Mights have to trade pops for some newer and better looking stuff!
Sometimes I hate to pull wood out of a stack, it just spoils that finished look and also means I'll need to refill it too.
The refilling part is what gets me... My stacks don't look any thing like Brad's lol. I just finished stacking 2 16ft long 6 ft tall rows and when I got done I was thinking to my self, that I need to get more wood now as I don't want to burn any of it lol
I probably would. Ive been told that before. True story...when i was a kid, my mother used to do jigsaw puzzles....the big ones, 500, 1000, 1500 pieces. I would do them with her and enjoy it. Usually over the course of a few days. Im trying to break my habit of stacking that tight as i know it slows the drying process, but lifelong habits are hard to break.
With as much wood as you hoard you have to stack it tight or you will be out of room in no time. And When you’ve got probably 20 years ahead who cares if it dries a little bit slow
Did you call, buddy? I'll see if I can find a picture or 3...it depends on the logs you have, on how it stacks... This shed is 7'w x 6.5'h x 14'l ...holds 5 cords. 18" splits 1.25 cords of 16" splits. Rack os made with 4 50 x 50 pallets This rack was filled spring '19, dead blow down oak. Same rack this year with mostly green oak, fairly straight grained rounds Started on the other side this week, it will get plenty of air flow...big limb wood with spiral grain...
