Make sure they are indeed dead. Sometimes they just fall over. When I first got them I was like, ohhhh no!

    A good guide....

Looks good! I wish I had more space and could get away with that many. I got a couple of barred rocks and mystery chicks from tsc. I originally thought they are buff Orpingtons which I was holding out for, and now I’m not so sure. Could be leghorns because they have yellowish feet. Hopefully they aren’t a mean breed, my producing hens are all golden comets and I don’t want issues. 7367366E-7D74-4384-992A-946FCCA5F20E.jpeg

You'll have an idea soon here once the feathers come through. Pretty cute when they are just little chicks

We lost power sometime in the middle of the night. It usually wakes me up when this happens, but did not this time. When I did wake, the chicks were down to 68, so I stoked the stove and got some heat on em quick.

68 isn’t good. Hopefully they warmed up quickly and you didn’t have any casualties

I dropped one side of the box but they aren’t smart enough to know they now have more room.

Getting ready for a more easier care watering system. Been watching too many YouTube videos... Welded this up out of a bed frame that was being thrown out a few years ago that I found....

Looks good. I just use the 3 gal water jug, it lasts roughly 4 days, probably 3 during the summer. I typically add organic apple cider vinegar every 2 or 3 fills, roughly 4 TBSP. The container get a scrub at every fill.

I've seen this referred... Have you noticed any difference? Whats its actually suppose to do? My water is from a galvinized system, so I cant use it at the current time... But if I go to the pvc, then It would be possible...
