I will do another guess the weight game Monday or Tuesday. Stand by I will start hauling the second red oak I been working up then weather permitting. Can’t do it Sunday the scales are locked on weekends!
So, what was your method? I have no idea what oak weighs, but it must be heavier than the pine I have here! I looked at those big ones, and said "those gotta be 150 pounds each, and the little ones maybe 100," and did some rounding, and got within 100 pounds. Too bad I rounded up, rather than down!
Good game everyone. I was more surprised with how heavy the empty trailer is than the weight of the Oak. Oak is a heavy, heavy wood. Only rivaled here by perhaps Shagbark Hickory. I’ve had 4x6 trailers tightly packed 30” high with Red Oak. I always figured a good 2500-3000 lbs.
