20190413_155506.jpg That was what I call my rounds pile, I know, what a mess...It's tough getting a truck in my yard unless it has been dry for at least 2 weeks, so I have access to the back part of my property via a cemetery road. So whatever I get, gets tossed here to be split later. This was before I got 6 loads of locust, and about 12 other miscellaneous loads added to it. I couldn't throw them any higher!!! Sorry I am not a progress picture taker. Anyway, I used to know when and where I got every score. Now it all just blends together for the most part. I am 2/3 into that pile now, and coming across stuff that I have no idea where it came from, except that it was free. I have given up on separating species. Black locust, ash, red oak, soft and hard maple, annoying elm, and recently cherry. Cherry and hickory are the only ones I separated for meat smoking use. I figure it's a good idea to have a mix in most stacks anyway. I can separate a bit when it comes out of the wood bin. Toss the locust in one corner for the really cold nights, and so on. So right now my 2021/2022 stacks are a mix of everything. I figure it saves me time and energy, it's all BTUs after all...

Some nice wood in that pile.
This was the first year I did any separating. Had enough of different species I thought it would be interesting keeping them separate so when I burn I can learn about the different woods. Beyond that I’d just mix em up too. Easy enough to grab the good stuff when it’s cold and lighter stuff when you don’t need as much heat.

Wow a big ole nice pile of wood like that. Better than a free membership to the gym.
Be cool if you could show us a pic when split and stacked.

That is a lot of wood. That would sure keep me busy for awhile. Nice job on gathering all that.

That's one sweet pile of wood, including your annoying elm. I'd happily take that elm off your hands if we were close. I like it.

do you put the dead rounds closet to the cemetery?
Missed this thread the other day, late to the party.
That is a nice pile of rounds. The same happens to me sometimes. I forget where i scored the wood. Kinda like a trip down memory lane when you unstack and burn it!
