Since I've been working from home, I actually upped the temp on my thermostat to 70*. In the morning I usually turn th estove to manual for an hour or two and let the temp get up to 72* and still my usage is way down.
I ran most of the winter on stove temp overnite this year with my Harman. Room auto during the daylight hours. Found the steady heat was a lot better for our not well insulated house. Still about 1 ton less than last season.
Well somehow I used 49 bags for March. I've gone over the number repeatedly, but that is what it is. Total for year though is merely 222, which is the lowest at this point in time since I started counting; 253 was my previous low.
Looks like I'm ending the season at 2.8 ish ton roasted....normally it's a little over 4 I think. Going back to the Quad next season
I LOVE the ease of cleaning but the scraping of the pot and auger squeals are making everyone nuts here and I'm tired of hearing about it. I've literally been telling everyone to shut up about it already. I'm not sure if it's just this stove or what. I have an updated burn pot and new auger for it so I'm going to refurb this thing and sell it. Should make decent money on it but who knows what things are going to be like after all of this.
Usually a good cleaning takes care of that unless you have an auger issue. Since 2009, mine hasnt done it more than a few times and generally pretty easy to resolve so it does not come back. Sometimes a high burn will get rid of it, otherwise a quick cleaning around the end of the auger tube. As I mentioned, it doesnt usually return. Constant low burns and low grade pellets might contribute. I think Don recommends auger removal, roto rooter and some lube When it does squeal its annoying for sure
That, I'm sure, was/is part of the problem. Rarely was that thing burning on high for very long because of the light winter.
I was going to but honestly for me, I just like the Quad a little better even though it's a bit more of a pain to clean.
So less than 3 tons... and you live back east? Do you supplement your pellet heat with anything else?
