I think there'll be some armed business owners staying at their places of business. Should be interesting.

    Day 9

    (yesterday 1 APR)

Got in 3 walks today and visited the neighbors GS 3 times today! This is the same dog that would bark the heck at us as we would walk past running along it's invisible fence border back and forth. I spoke with the owner and got permission to stop by and visit with the dog while he is at work.....
"Sure!" Verified this once again on Tue.

Now, when the dog sees us, absolutely no barking at all.....just waiting patiently for us to visit. Sits there with its ears perked up as straight as can be! Looks real disappointed when it is time to leave also. It is glad to have the company for a few minutes.

99 baked a blueberry pie yesterday with some berries that I picked last summer. Yup, went into a store and picked a can of them right off the shelf....:D

Saw two out of state cars riding around yesterday.....from a state where there is also a stay at home order.....:headbang::headbang::headbang:

    Must've been essential business..... :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

Blueberry pie reminds me of an old lady who lived near Cooks. She told me about when she used to pick the wild ones then take them to the train station at night to be hauled to Chicago. Said many made a good living for a while when they were ripe. Also told how all the Indians did the same thing. I miss that old lady as she was always telling about how things used to be.

I decided to start a fire this morning around 7:00. Opened the door and gobble, gobble, gobble is all I heard.

On the bright side, yesterday is the first day I've noticed this but we are 3/4 mile from a state highway and many times the noise we get from there is terrible. But yesterday afternoon every time I stopped what I was doing outside I was amazed at the quiet! Reminded me of old times for sure and I loved it. Hope that continues.

Also yesterday I moved the last of the firewood from the barn to the porch. I hope it lasts until we no longer need heat this spring.

Just watched 10 hens and 3 gobblers. one at least 35-40 lbs., spend 2 hours here right outside the house cleaning up the ground under the bird feeders.

rottiman you need to run! Thats not a turkey, that's a turka-dactyl! A 22-23 lb bird here in the spring is considered a real nice gobbler. Bigger than that is a hoss.

Meat is dark and tends to be tougher than domestic birds. Best way I have had it is deep frying the whole bird.

The only wild turkey I ever had was in the liquid form.

    Day 10

Made a re-con trip to the cottage today just to check up on things. The neighbor was up from the L.P. and had been for almost 2 weeks. He was walking over to say hello and I told him that far enough....you're coming form the land of the dead! It is nice to know that he was there and watch dogging the place while I wasn't able.

Filled up some gas cans and the truck at 1.40 a gallon!

After we got back and had dinner, sitting on the couch.... a black high top van rides by slowly. All windows were blacked out and it was a panel van. Just like I was teasing on here about last week. 99 jumps up and says who the heck is that and what do they want? Good....she's starting to see the picture.....
