Ideas for families staying in

My wife's boss gave her some sourdough starter, we made the first batch last weekend (one recipe of dough will make 2 loaves worth), a loaf and rolls. Pretty dang good. Started another batch of dough the other night, wife baked them this morning while teleworking. I am not ashamed to say that one whole loaf is already GONE! Yep, that good! In the last 3 weeks I have bought more flour than the rest of my life put together...thought I was gonna be prepared you know. Well at this rate, I was wrong! I will try to get and post pics next time as well...

 

I was thinking of doing the same. Your results look great!

 

Cant be that old...the really old ones were wood...that's what I started with...and I'm younger than you sooo...

 

That made me think of moms sourdough pancakes...mmm...been a long time since I had those!

 

Joann fabrics is providing (free?) fabric to make face masks for hospitals. We donated a whole bunch of spools of thread to a group of ladies in town volunteering some sewing effort.
Might be a kids project there of some proportion.

Do boy scouts have sewing badges now ??

or non-gender specific scouts or whatever they are calling themselves these days

 

Sad enough times with this virus going around. Then you bring up that very valid question.

Never would have thought I'd see this crap in my lifetime. Glad my parents/grandparents don't have to deal with it.

Yesterday we explored an old railroad bed. Pretty neat to look at the work that was done so many years ago and still holding up.
We live close to the end of a rail line that serviced the old mill town next door. Supposedly there is an old turntable that they used to turn the locomotive around to head back to Boston by hand. I haven’t gotten a chance to look for it but it’s on the list for things to check out.

 

One thing our daughter with the two kids has gotten hooked on is geocaching. Sometimes the kids like it and other times it is painfully to watch them participate. I went with her on a hunt a few years ago and it is very addictive. She picks easier ones for the kids to do while she usually tackles harder ones with her husband or a friend. Quite the hobby.

 

It’s funny you say that as there was a chache it the stone wall behind us and another in the tunnel.

 

Couldn’t figure a way to make a link to go to, or get it on the FWC page but I started a story time post. If your little ones would like a story read to them, this is a good one. If you have a suggestion of a short children’s book, let me know.

Little blue truck is a favorite here.

 

They are doing some kind of teddy bear search in town this week. Its organized on Facebook. List your street and a description of the house, and put a teddy bear out somewhere. Then the parents can drive the kids around and search for them (visual only). Get them out of the house with something to do.

We have a ginormous bear that we will put out somewhere.
