Putting in some hours with this nice weather. Things are coming along. Finally getting back to processing my log stash which makes me ecstatic. Lots of piles of this and that have been split and stacked so it makes it look like there’s and end in sight. Nothing left but logs. Yeehaw. Stay safe out there people.
Danged if I know. I don’t count em I just crack em. 30 done 20 to go maybe? I’ve still got four trailer loads of oak at the end of my driveway Was too wet to get them in the field at that time.
They really are. I’ve never seen a more straighter and even crib end.... I need to know jo191145 ’s secrets.
Gotta admit that one surprised me too lol. Big rounds of straight grained ash. My first ash wood. I was impressed with its ease of stackability.
No but I’ve thought of it. Just don’t have that much ambition. I even thought of building a train out of the new stack that will be longer. Would have been cool if I could pull it off. Writing this I’m kicking myself for it LOL brenddatomu Now the mortar I never did think of. Hmm, a bucket of sawdust and water? Just might work for the little wobbles if you get enough compression. Shouldn’t hurt covered stacks too much
Excellent work jo191145. Those ash stacks look so familiar. We never used to have much ash where the bark would lift off the wood but since the EAB hit we have it a lot. One of these days I should go around and pick up all the bark we have laying around. lol
It’s all EAB. Most the bark came right off. Some of the last stacked smaller rounds and sticks came from my sisters house. She had them taken down a little sooner than most people would. Bark stayed on a good portion of them. Now Dennis, you know your supposed to be stuffing that bark in the mud holes. Did a little of that myself this morning. Clean up before the next big push.
