Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do, write to them? Why don’t they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen can look for them while they deliver the mail?

    From my Bible app

    A Prayer for Our Leaders

    Dear God,

All authority is Yours, but You have given authority to leaders to protect and guide us. Today, we ask that You would give all our leaders wisdom, discernment, strength, and resolve. Keep them healthy, safe, and rested so that they can continue to guide us through this troubling time.

Give our government leaders wisdom about what needs to be done to stop the virus and stabilize our economy.

Give our spiritual leaders Your discernment on how to meet people’s needs as they continue to glorify Your name and encourage the Church.

Give our medical leaders insight into how to stop the virus. Strengthen their resolve and honor their hard work in creating a treatment for COVID-19.

Give our civic leaders inspiration, courage, joy, and strength to meet the needs of their communities.

And help us, as leaders in our communities, to display courage, hope, generosity, and kindness. Would the way we honor others inspire those around us.

    In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Yeah, I like to throw some stuff like that in just to break up things and we all need a laugh now and then. Or perhaps both now and then.

    Show of force
    By Pastor Matt Ewart

When tensions rise among nations and their differences are not settled, what can often happen is they resort to a show of force. It could be a military exercise in the region. It could be a missile test. The idea is to intimidate the other side into capitulating.

This doesn’t just happen on a national level—you do this too. The time you raised your voice at someone (or gave him the silent treatment), that was a show of force. In little ways and big ways you can try to manipulate others.

But manipulation is not how God handles things, and Palm Sunday is the proof. During holy week Jesus would face the unrighteous anger of the jealous Jewish leaders. He would endure an unfair death sentence from Rome. He would face torture and death. So on Palm Sunday, before it all, he made a show of force in a way that you’d never expect.

His force was humility. Do you know why? Because in a way, the real enemy was you. It was humankind who brought sin into this world long ago, and your life is a constant testimony that sin remains.

Divine strength would have destroyed you. But it was his righteous humility that allowed him to take your place and redeem you.

“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).

    You have too many men
    By Pastor Mark Jeske

If you would ever perform a “prayer audit” on the content of your communications with God, especially of those prayers that request help, it should come as no surprise that 100 percent of them involve prayers for more—better health, more money, better job, better home. God always loves to hear from us, appreciates the trust and respect we show him, and actually gives us as much as he thinks we can handle.

But—sometimes he thinks we have too much, that he can do more for us by subtraction rather than addition. Seriously! When the crisis with the Midianite attacks was reaching an intolerable point, God announced his rescue plan to a hero named Gideon: “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me’” (Judges 7:2).

This is the balancing act with our faith lives that God constantly works at. He loves to give us things, but the risk is that we grow proud, that we forget the true cause and effect of solving our problems. He had to prune down Gideon’s army so that Israel would give him glory for the victory.

Here are two challenges for you: when you accomplish something significant with your own mind and resources, humbly give God credit. And when you experience subtractions from your life, assume that God is going to do great things through your weakness
