Probably will wait till about then, right after deer season. only problem is I can't get back in there with the truck when it gets wet. I done got all the easy stuff. these will require some serious 4 wheel drive to get out with and maybe some winching. I may try to get the ones closer in a few days, it's still pretty wet back there. those are kinda bottomlands.

That definitely can be a problem. For us, using the atv and an atv trailer works good. Most times in early December there isn't much frost so having the wider tires on the trailer is a helper. I'm wondering if the ground freezes much down there?

The ground don't freeze here much and if it does it's never a deep freeze.

But i'll be honest, I'd rather cut that stuff in 100 degree heat than freezing temps.lol I don't mind sweating but I hate sweating with winter clothes on. Last year I cut two days in 105 heat. Long as I keep drinking Gatorade and water I'm fine.

I'd rather wait for cooler air. We also start right after deer season. Nice thing here is that if I sweat too much (rare then) it is not far from the house and I can change. But usually have to wear the Carhartts so when I get warm, the Carhartt comes off or is unzipped and that usually works fine.

That must have been quite a storm! Nice score! Agree with Dennis. Winter cutting is great. Just have to get it before too much snow.

Mother nature did the dangerous part putting them on the ground, now all you need to do is C/S/S.

As for covered storage, top cover it. It won't rot away.

I would show you a pic of the cellulitis I got from my tick bite but it is too gross. With No amount of exaggeration, it was the size of a football on my very fat belly. I felt like I was on fire. It hurt so bad I was punching things in a rage. Then I was sick, weak, etc. I had to take the antibiotics twice because the first time it didn't best it back. Now have arthritis. Can't prove that came from the infection, but it could have. If the wood can wait, then please consider waiting. Those damm ticks have the upper hand in that environment.

That's a "SWEET" score! I'm like you in a sense, I don't mind cutting when it's hot, "BUT" I have to agree with the gang on the tick issue….. If you get lymes, you'll never forget it!:(. Spray, spray, spray:)

Well I went a cut one of the tree blowned down. Got three loads out of the tree. the last five chunks were hollow. It was very hot, I started feeling it about one o'clock. Got back to the house on the second load and it was 97. I waited till later to go get the third one. First load here. SANY1436.JPG

SANY1438.JPG SANY1440.JPG What I had left after the second load and the final load. I didn't realize it was that hot. By the third load I was one exhausted puppy.

Its like oak hell and hoarder's heaven.

I hate the heat, give me 30 degrees and some dry gloves and I can cut all day. 80+ and I'm quitting in a few hours.
