yes, about every 5 years so far. we live in a little ole canal village. Our Street, Basin is the original canal. All of the village is graded to fill the canal. :headbang::headbang::headbang:

life goes on. On the positive side, all the work I did on my house adding footer drains worked, too good. Pump could not keep up with flow. Replacing pump soon. DDING 2ND JUST IN CASE

So were the footer drains bringing water back toward the house? If so, is it possible to add some sort of flapper valve so flow only goes in one direction?

the footer drains had to go to the sump, with 5+"'s of rain the pump was the weak link, barely.

See... I know mine has issues with two areas... The new waterline they brought in... since the ground isnt as packed... the water from the front hill follows it right into the house (that my theory) since the water comes in the hole that the new waterline comes into the basement...and then the basement drain hole collasped (claytile) somewhere outside of the basement (possible in several areas since it use to work) allows water to back feed into my basement... Still haven't figured that out, but only happens after long rain periods... But when I bought the house I went down with the real estate agent, found water... We made them put in a french drain around the perimeter of the basement.... Which has helped tremendously. Even though he argued its never happened before (there was a wiper in the basement...Sure never before  ) But after getting the gutters and some land grading, I'm sure its helped out a whole lot... Good Luck:handshake: hopefully all settles down for you..

It is amazing how much damage water can do. It can come from the sky or from a river or water main or wherever, but it sure can cause problems. Same with crops in ag. I still hear the older guys: A dry year will scare you but a wet year can starve you. Many found that out for sure last summer around here as many went with no crops at all.

All is good, had both dry by late afternoon. Going to put new larger pump in mine with the backup, which I should of done a year ago. I knew I was pushing the odds, lost this one, could of been a lot worse.
