Wow! The past several nights we've gotten POUNDED with rain and strong storms. Tuesday nights storm had me out in the side yard in my pajama pants in the pouring down rain at 1am trying to wrestle a 12' trampoline out of my deck railing. Bent the chit out of the upper piping of the trampoline, but otherwise it was OK.....
It's been hot and humid here too, a friend at a local business has a maple come through his roof a few days ago.No one inside at the time though, he had just walked out back.
Big storm late Monday night here (same system that dumped from 3 to 6 inches rain in NW IA/South Dakota & western Minnesota earlier in the day).Strong gusts woke me up at 1:20 AM Tuesday,power went out at 1:30,came back on at 10:30 AM.26,000 in metro area was without power,by 6PM all but 1000 had it restored.Amounts varied in 3-4 county radius,but just only 3/4" in my backyard rain gauge.Wind gusts from 50 to 75MPH in different areas,widespread tree damage,not a lot of big ones down though. Another big blast came through around 5PM last night - not so much wind,but heavy rain.Another 1.25 in gauge in only 30 minutes.Finally tapered off & quit by 615PM.Sun came out afterwards,79 degrees with 90%+ humidity Then all of a sudden power in neighborhood went out at 815,was out for 1 hour before it came back on.Some transformer blew several blocks over I believe.I was apparently the first person to phone it in barely 2 minutes after it went off. Sunny all day today (first time since Tuesday afternoon) very hot & humid,there was heavy fog early this morning but its gone now finally.A bit cooler tomorrow thankfully,hoping to drop a recently dead 17" diameter x 70 ft tall Hickory at parents tomorrow if forecast holds...Plus help Dad fix the ol' JD 110,its having points/condenser replaced,damm thing quit on me last Fall.Been sitting in the garage ever since.I'm way behind on mowing & other stuff.....
