Bout a mile from the house they had a Doug Fir taken down about 2 years ago. Wood is all bucked. Drive right to it. Said I could have it all. Wif finally relented and said go get it (I am so whipped). Some of the rounds have been laying on the yard cut side down and I was afraid there would be some punk but have not found any yet. Wood is nice and yellow inside although some of the upright rounds are fairly damp. Pitchy in the core. Figure 2 cords maybe more. Only downside is I have to use the splitter incorrectly (vertical) to bust the rounds to manageable size. Quite a hassle for an old guy to wrestle those rounds all alone. Will get help for the biggest ones. Will work at it over several days. I have been stagnating since hunting season ended so it is nice to get out in the sunshine and do some work. Will ache tomorrow!

I probably will. It is so embarrassing working with the splitter vertical!:picard:

I know whatcha mean about the big rounds. At my advanced age, I now use a peavey to maneuver them into position. ;)

I am an old guy too but you could just roll those rounds right into place. They are nice size but they can be handled if you roll them .

Great not only that you got to get out and get more wood but now you are forced to use that splitter the correct way. Wood should be split just like it has grown and I'm not sure about most folks but around here our trees grow vertically.

I hope you have room to stack that wood now as I know you were filled up for a while.

Other stuff is still there even with a "Free Wood" sign in front. People are intimidated by the hill. I asked (and so have others) if I could stage my trailer in the neighbor's parking pad and they said no. Nice people but the pad is cracking and he is afraid of the weight.
