    Forgot to attach the text.
I got these old whiskey barrels and then saw where others had turned them into different projects. So I thought why not give it a try.
The hardest (longest) part of the project was sanding off the char on the inside of the barrels. I left some of the char and metal barrel band marks on for the heck of it. Let me know what you thnk of it please.

VERY nice! I like the chair most. Wife likes the chair but went nuts over the side table! Like the compound curve in the back.

Great work! Personally, I would have put the bunghole in the seat area, but then I have the maturity of a 12 year old.

Is there a "plan" available for these or was this just a use-what-you-got project?

Does one barrel make a chair and table?

    They are awesome!!:salute:
    I love it!!

Funny thing is, I'm drinking whiskey as I read this post.......... no bull chitting...
That chair and table, knowing they were made from a whiskey barrel is something I'd buy. Great job, fabulous :drunk:

    Thanks metalcuttr,
When you are accustomed to making things from flat dimensioanl lumber, everything changes when you use barrel staves. None of them are the same and the curved pieces throw all the angles and cut lengths off.
    Turbodiesel,
Yes there are many plans you can get. I chose one from Gold Country Woodworks www.gcwoodworks.com. But I'm was less than satisfied with the plans. They were inconsistant and did not match up to my barrel parts. A wine barrel would probably worked better. Like I said to metalcuttr, flat patterns work great for dimensional lumber, but barrel staves can be a pain. I could not make the chair from a single barrel. If you decide to try to make a chair, you will find the staves from every barrel to be different widths, so use your imagination. The picture attached is one barrels pieces. lots of smaller width staves and you need more wide ones for a chair. The good news is I got both the table and chair from 2 barrels with enough left over to think of something to do with them.

To all the others that replied or liked the project, thanks! At 74 and retired, I still like to keep my head in the game if you know what aI mean.

Any raw scraps are good to toss in a smoker.
