I am going to stuff it in a couple more rounds next weekend at a get a clip of it running. Spun a new loop of JGX for it today. Found a nice 22" older Powermatch bar in my stash to hang on it. I liked how it pulled on the other loop of skip and a 22". Balance was nice compared to a 24". For a rigid mount it is much smoother than most others from the era. I've several other 77cc offerings (Homelite/Pioneer/Echo) and it feels pretty darn light compared to them. It is missing the id plate, but it is one of the earlier offerings. It might even be an A77. Late 60's. I happened to have an NOS 22209 rim sprocket assembly on hand. Swapped the spur off while I was at it. Here are a couple of the air box and some plumbing when I had it apart the other weekend. It was filthy. I still need to get out the micro jet and do some good cleaning once the weather turns and I can get the outside hose bib on.
Yep . I’m thinking that either the spur/ clutch bell was changed at some point and the guy got a bit of gorilla in him . Or, somebody did as you said trying to remove the clutch . Apparently it's aluminum . So whatever I try , I need to be fairly easy on that part .
Couldn't get out into the hills, so I chucked the 77 into some rounds in the front yard. Pretty smooth cutting. Plenty of mid-paced grunt for a saw pushing 50 years old. Similar performance to my 280, given the same sized top end.
Added a new saw to my collection I wanted to try one out to see what they are like. It is a Holzfforma G444 I put a 28" bar on it but probably going to switch to a 24. So far I'm liking it but I have only cut a little with it so far.
With the lousy weather we’ve been having, rain or sleet, I was getting bored not being able to run saws so I tried something different.
It’s hydro dipping. Gonna find out about the durability, there’s 3 coats of clear on each one. Probably scratch a shade less than paint because of the clear coat.
Is that another new one? Didn’t you already have one of those? Or do you have another “you suck” award coming
It’s a new saw. My fourth new. 353, then 562, 550 and now this one. Was saving my pennies for a 372 when I got a YS on one. That left the bench jar with extra. Some unexpected overtime rang the bell. I did shop. Baileys and three locals. I like this shop and they ended up at the best price and a hand full of parting gifts as a thank you. Ran it in some rounds in the yard. Can’t wait to get it in the woods.
