A while back I saw a pic on here that a fellow hoarder posted and they was using guardrail to stack their wood on. I haven’t been able to score any plastic pallets so been looking for guard rail. I’m tired of the rotten pallet mess. Finally scored 10 pieces of guardrail 26’ long. I had to cut them in half to fit in the bed of my service truck. I think they will work out.
There is some slope where they are at. Thought about blowing some holes in with torch but I’m going to try it the way it is. If wood is top covered I don’t think much water will get to the guardrail. They are surprisingly light weight.
That looks like it will work great. Simple and ingenious! How stable are they on the ground? Rigid enough to prop up on cement blocks/6x6's etc to save you back when you start the stack?
They are 13’ long. I think if you had blocks on both ends and one in the middle it would be fine as long as they were all on grade. They seem solid on the ground. Not sure how much they will sink through freeze and thaw but I think it won’t be a problem
And that reason right there is why I put about half of the outlets in my garage at the height of 4'. Every time I use a lower one, I think maybe I should have put them all at 4'!!
Great idea. I've seen it used in cattle lots and feedlots. That looks like it will work for wood too. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
That is a very good idea Slocum, I may have to start looking for some. Never thought about that stuff.
They have pick up points all along the highways down there in the L.P. Make sure you select a site that is on a straight stretch of road instead of a curve! Police: Man caught stealing guard rails By Nathan Lyttle | Posted: Tue 1:33 PM, Jun 13, 2017 | Updated: Tue 2:33 PM, Jun 13, 2017 INEZ, Ky. (WYMT) - Deputies in Martin County say they arrested a man who tried to steal guard rails Monday. Police said they saw Vondy Jude taking bolts from guard rails on KY-645. Guard rails stolen from along KY-3 were found in the back of his truck. Jude told police he thought it was okay to take guard rails that were not attached. Deputies noted they found bolts in his pockets and truck. Some stuff, you can't make up!
Brad you got me to thinkin. There’s a lot of water that comes off the roof of my Quonset hut and the pallets my stacks are on funnel it to where it drains in one spot. It has made a small wash out. Guardrail would have made it worse so I blocked it up. The one row is BL and the other is going to be shagbark. That should be a good test.
Until I started reading I saw the top picture and assumed it had something to do about the crunch in the shed.
Thats great. Sometimes the simplest detail is overlooked. How do i know...from some things ive done. I think that stack should be all BL...just sayin!
Honestly have no idea how that happened. 7 years ago when I bought this place it was already like that.
Good answer, blame the former owner I'd be furious if someone did that to mine. Id' feel really stupid if it was me that did it.
