I have a compressor, and i had a old ''blowgun'' that was leaking, and about worthless, plus it just didn't put out the kind of pressure i thought it should. So, the other day while looking through a certain stores catalog,( HF) i spotted a blowgun for 1.99!! Thought, why not? So, had the wife pick one up since we don't have that particular store in our town. I transferred my fitting from the old blowgun to the newer one, it's plastic, and has a large trigger on it about 5'' long, and the 8'' aluminum or steel tube of 1/8'' long on it. Fired up the compressor and boy, did it ever work!! For 2 bucks, you can't go wrong, for the price its one tool i'm really glad i upgraded. Oh wear safety glasses, this thing REALLY works, its just a good idea. Oh, forgot, today got a new HF catalog, green sticker says, 30% off any 5 items, it just keeps getting better!!
Sounds like the one i got at HF. Works great for cleaning the saws. My wife and I went to grand opening of our HF just to look around. The boss surprised me when she picked up the blowgun and said don't you need one of these?
Cheap HF unit, forgot what I paid but it was in the few bux range, with gratuitous saw shot. I’m into saw rescue and this is a must.
Blowgun and compressor are not only great for cleaning off the saw, it's also great for getting the sawdust and chips off your clothes. After cutting for the day I'll sit down in the lawn chair and take off my shoes and blow the chips out of my socks and out of the shoes too.
I use a pet drier for blowing the dust 'n chips out of the saw. I also use it for blowing water away from seals on my fancy car. Works like a charm.
Geeezz, I hope my wife doesn't see that thing. 5 horses, 7 cats, and 4 dogs, I'll be drying all freaking day
What airline fittings (couplers) are common in the US ? I have to change over to something less expensive than Snap on (industrial interchange). PCL seems common here, but has limitations.
I've used the harbor freight ones at work and they do work but it fell apart and became leaky after a couple months. For home though I'd buy one, since I wouldn't use it nearly as much as what we do at work, plus the smaller compressor I have isn't blowing nearly as much PSI as at work which really is probably what did mine in. If you wanna spend a bit more, the fancy Husky ones at Home Depot which you can buy extensions for work extremely well.
Sadly, there really is no standard style of air hose quick coupler in the U.S.A.. There are several very common styles and to make it even more confusing they often have different names... as even the names aren't standardized... Everything I have around the garage is fitted with... That style has several of different names... Milton, Milton M just to name a few. There's no shortage of pictures and charts on the internet. They show the different styles. Some manufactures have gone to a color code, but I don't know if the colors have been standardized to a particular style... Then there's the "L" or "Lincoln"...
