    Im on my way to the job this morning and come upon "men working ahead" signs. Tree service i think right away and was correct. Blind turn on a state highway. My lane blocked and i had to stop and wait. I pass and they are taking down a nice big ash. I parked and asked the tree guy in the yard who tells me property owner taking the wood. Famous last words ive heard many times. I went home the same way late this afternoon and not a stick left. All moved way up into the guys yard. Oh well, doesnt hurt to ask! IMG_1984.JPG

    2 years ago the power company was cutting the roads back and the tree service was just dropping the limbs and left them lay on the side of the road. One section of road about a mile from me is heavily wooded, especially with oak. Stopped and asked the owner if I could cut up the limbs. “Nope, that’s my wood.” 2 years and it’s still laying there.

    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:
    buZZsaw BRAD that homeowner must have recognized your vehicle stopping and asking about the wood and then decided to get it away from the roadside ASAP!!!!!

    Doesnt that drive you nuts,:hair: especially when you have to drive by all the time. Happens right near me. Couple years ago when a tornado hit, neighbor up the street has a big sugar maple land on his house. I stop and ask...his son taking the wood. Rounds still sitting in his woods and probably gone bad by now.

    Could be. Maybe they saw me park at the foot of the driveway and ask? Maybe the tree guys said something? No worries on my end as ive got scores i still need to work. Seems most of my scores are accidental!

    I have maybe one more trip to the current site im working the locust. Theres four more good trees there but way in back and since they are off the ground ill leave them for next Winter. From what ive heard on here it smells something terrible under the decaying bark and i really dont want to work it that way now thats its getting warmer. Ive thought of debarking what i could and let it clean up for next Winters scrounging. Area number three for locust is in the works. Some decent wood again from the tornado. Ive talked to a couple or the neighbors there and just need to get one more okay. I have to park in a driveway as its in a dangerous curve in the road. Another logistically tough spot to get it...dangerous road, no parking, embankment, tangle of prickers, vines etc. There are sections of logs there. Couple broken trees.
    I have scores lined up, just all these other DANG unexpected :woodsign: scores keep interrupting my hoarding :tree:efforts! The last three PU fulls of wood i cut last week were all unexpected scores. Probably another to cut at the cherry score. As much as i like the locust it can wait plus an easier score is more better in my book!

    Now hopefully all that ash is processed and put away by this time next year! If not, wouldn’t hurt to ask again! Let them know you could have saved them a lot of trouble moving all that wood!

    Check to see how many times Mickey Mantle and Hank Aron struck out. But they also hit a lot of home runs.

    I went that way again today. Tree service felled two more big ashes and trunks/wood on the ground. Went by late afternoon and all wood was moved. Guy had a mini payloader and other excavating tools. He was digging out a stump too.

    Before i got to that area a local tree service was removing a big sugar maple roadside. Crew for the town, not state. Turned around, stopped and asked. Tree company taking wood. Doesnt hurt to ask!

    I had a similar situation. I asked a gal about some wood, said aguy was picking it up. Stopped a month later and said hey I can load it today and im happy to. She said go for it, he took too long. Sometimes it works. I was tired of looking at it, so I know she was too. This was 3-4 years ago, I work with her cousin now. They got a laugh at my aggressive wood hoarding.

    I've seen people say the same thing about a car, ''nah, i'm gonna fix it'' up, 10- 20 yrs later ,its a total rust bucket the car's still there, and its literally not worth anything. Their loss not mine.

    The debarking would probably be a good idea. Might get some of the bugs to move out. Don’t know about anyone else but I found all sorts of creepy crawlers on the loose bark of BL. Even some of those African sized grub things :)
