No time for a breath, retirement is a full time job. Lamp original design belongs with oak mission end table I built recently, post to follow. Awaiting just the right 14” sq. Tiffany-style shade, checking local antique shops, and an eye on eBay as well. Cherry dowels hold this thing together. I don’t really have the dexterity nor tools for managing small parts so this was a bit of a challenge, especially the simple top mitered frame. Finish is a coat of danish oil followed by a couple more of natural tung. Useful horizontal sockets allow for a shallower shade. I ll add a pic when a shade is finally fitted.
Have you considered making a stain class shade for it yourself? It wouldn't have to be that elaborate. A simple shade made from variegated glass would look great.
Yes, I have thought of it. But there are a couple of issues with that idea. First there are many staggeringly beautiful shades to be had. I favor the complex geometric style, the building of which I’d probably have to include with my other many varied limitations. Worse yet, if I discovered that I did have the skills for it, it would lead to another unaffordable hobby.
Boy do I ever understand that. So many skills to learn, so little time and money to throw into them. When you do find a shade for it, please post a picture.
