I’ve been trying to get this ash out of this bottom for a couple years. Just yesterday morning the water was flowing through there. There were 4 ash 18-22”. Then several in the 6-8” range. There is still one 18”, 10” and a handful of 6-8” left I hope to get in the morning. It was actually fun using the winch. The longest pull was 200’. Tractor was sitting about 6’ higher than river bottom which worked out great. These are all EAB killed trees.

Looked like fun pulling them out and well worth it. How was the meat on the wood? Any punk?

Unfortunately there’s some punk but I’ll deal with it. I should have cut them a year ago. The pieces with punk on them will make good shoulder wood.

Having a winch changes how you look at the woods.

Nice. Looks like that winching is working out good for you.

Now, if I might ask politely (if possible), could you please start putting the pictures into the post rather than just attaching them? It is very easy to do. After you load the pictures, just click on this button or either thumbnail or full image:

Make it a thumbnail..my scroll wheel is wearing out from trying to get through all the jumbo pics I don't want to look at! How about letting me decide for myself what I want to look at?

There are a few guys making a living retrieving sunken logs. They are pulling out stuff that we will never see again. Old virgin timber that is very valuable.

I thought this was the way to do it so people would have a choice on opening it. Thought members with poor internet had mentioned doing it this way so their computer wouldn’t lock up trying to load all the pics. I will do what’s best for everyone

Don't recall them mentioning that but my memory banks are overloaded, so...I'll take whatever, but will always post the pictures in the thread because it takes less time. By just attaching, even with desktop, it does take time on the attachment because the computer has to download to the computer rather than just showing the pictures.

I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. I wonder if it's any quicker for them if we "upload a file," then insert it as a thumbnail? I would think so..
I average 10-15 Mb, so stuff will load pretty quick, depending on the server. What make it difficult for me is if I'm trying to read comments in a thread. The text gets lost in the jumbo pics, not all of which I care to look at, and it becomes a giant PITA finding the text..

We live in rural area and struggle with internet service at times so I understand the frustration of some so that’s why I’ve been trying to load thumbnails. I’m not sure what’s the best for everyone, please let me know cause I’m not that tech savvy.
