This might get a little long..... So, on the morning of February 8, I’m in the basement stoking the stove, drinking coffee & checking out FHC forum (pretty typical morning). I have a private message from M2theB. He and I have had a conversation about his ability to find so many sweet saw deals & also my desire to own some of the older “iconic” huskies. So in this PM he tells me about a clean looking Husqvarna 266 in Wallingford Ct but is to far away for him to check out & more than he is used to paying. I’m already getting excited & ask if he knows any FHC members that might be closer to it. His reply buZZsaw BRAD, maybe. So I send buZZsaw BRAD a PM telling him about it and we have a conversation about him checking it out. Problem is that I have never used & have no desire to use PayPal & that if the deal was to happen I would prefer to send him a USPS money order. He said that he would check it out. I’m supposed to be out cutting at my “ more than one load “ score, but not getting much done because every 5 minutes I’m checking my phone for a response from him. As the hours go by with no response the excitement begins to fade and is slowly replaced with embarrassment and guilt. I mean, why should I expect a total stranger 2/3 of the way across the country to tie up several hundred $$$ of their hard earned money for over a week just so I can have one of my dream saws. Just ridiculous, right? I’d pretty much given up, when later on in the evening I have a message from Brad telling me he got the saw!!! Holy chit!!! I can’t believe it!!!! You da man buZZsaw BRAD!!! As it turned out the saw was only 10 minutes from his house and only 2 minutes from the friend’s house where he has wood stored! So a day or 2 later we get the shipping figured out & I get the money order on the way ASAP. On Saturday morning the 22nd the postmaster calls and said “your package is here” (yes, my town is that small) here it is!! I really can’t thank both buZZsaw BRAD & M2theB enough for helping make this happen. I really love this club So how about it, anyone else got a story about club members going out of the way to help out
That is a nice saw! Congrats on pulling it together and thanks for the help on the heavy lift buZZsaw BRAD !
Even though I’ve never met him, by reading his posts Brad always seemed like an up front and genuine man. I’m glad things worked out.
Awesome. I have yet to actually meet Brad but it is funny because when I signed up here I had no idea that there was another buzzsaw on here ; come to find out he lives right up the road from me less than a mile away. Who would have ever guessed it. Nice to see everyone here looking out for each other and helping out with things like this. Great job Brad !! Need to hook up with you in the near future. Just been busier than usual so haven't reached out to you.
Great story. Hoarders helping hoarders. The only story I think of offhand is kudos to WeldrDave. We needed to get a saw to ReelFaster. It seems that these 2 guys live not too far away. So one fine summer day I finally got to meet Dave and Well Seasoned along with many other hoarders at a GTG in NH. From there Dave took the saw and passed it on to his friend in NJ. So that saw traveled from MI through Canada and on to northern NH then south to southern NJ. All was well.
I didn't see it for sale and thats probably not a bad thing for you anyway. Maybe it's good I didn't see it this way I didn't have to explain another saw to the other half. She doesn't get it. Glad it worked out for you.
What a hec of a story of FHC members helping each other and kudos to buZZsaw BRAD what an awesome FHC member . The Legendary Backwoods Savage MS290 serves me more than well Am telling ya this place is pretty darn special, some of the acts of kindness, generocity, knowledge, wisdom, etc... that is shared consistently on a daily basis is nothing short of a treasure. And an example of so much light and goodness left in this often times cruel world.
From my end, im having my morning coffee and checking out FHC, my usual MO. I see i have a PM from Sandhillbilly . Never PMed with him before. We corresponded a few times and i checked it out on CL. Had time to call about the saw and acted right away knowing "snooze you lose". I guess i shouldve let him know right away, but Ms. buZZsaw was a bit perturbed i left abruptly to buy a chain saw. (i didnt tell her that at the time!) Poor Billy, i get a PM from him that evening apologizing about asking me to do this. I cant imagine his reaction when i sent him this pic late that evening. The guy i bought the saw from was surprised when i told him it was being shipped to Nebraska! There was a couple other "serious" buyers but hadnt shown up. They knew what a good saw this is. Glad i was able to make it happen and still cant believe how close it was to me. Ill always drive by that house and think of the saw. Did the other day! So how about it Husqvarna guys, what makes this saw so special? Not well versed on Husky. Had this saw been a Stihl... My FHC stories: metalcuttr made the plaque for me. T.Jeff Veal mailed me a some nice hearing protection. Great bunch of folks here and im honored to be a part of it!
That was even on CL? How on earth did I miss that one? At least the story has a happy ending. Great bunch of guys and gals on here and glad to be allowed to be part of it. Thanks everyone for making this place as informative and fun as it is.
I can think of more stories than there's room to type out. I've done business with folks from this forum from near & far. Never had a bad experience & never had anyone not willing to help out. Only forum on the net I'm active on. Buy, sell, trade, & help each other out when needed. No better place! Well done guys!
Very nice saw. Yes, this is a great group of folks, even better when you can make a GTG and meet them in person. Playing with saws, splitters and eating some super grub is just an added bonus. buZZsaw BRAD you are quite welcome, my friend...when I saw the kind you were using, it's easy for me to get those. Need to protect that hearing, don't need Miz Buzzsaw on you... Thanks for helping out on the saw deal.
I forgot about that little Homelite you offered me. Just happened to think of it. Only worked a few days up there. May be back ther for a while come Spring
