Yeah I cant say on this one either...but on the Englander NC30 stove it is a real workhorse and has proven to hold up fine to being run hard... Highbeam can attest to that...

Quite honestly, with all the good reports in that stove from you and others, for the price of admission, it has edged out nearly all others...aside from maybe the nc13 and some Drolet models. Just not yet sure about the size of that 30 yet. What I do know is that with the right size and mass of a stove this house likes 275F-370F stove surface temps to keep the IAT in the range we like. Generally a 330F-350F Outside stove temp is ideal average operating temps. Sort of makes me think the NC-13 may work better, but I can’t know for sure. A wood stove I can burn mildly most of the time would be ideal....just hit enough to keep the chimney clean.

I’d just like to have one as a good cheaply priced back up stove capable of heating well. I’ll be keeping the 354 around as well for those tough long and cold winters.

I’d love to hook them both to a “Y” pipe into the same chimney. Need more heat, shut the smaller stove down and fire up the big stove. Lol! Would be the talk of the forum for sure...

I considered the y pipe idea to keep the beast connected. But it really hasn’t been that cold and I do have oil back up. I thought only I could come up with a hairbrain idea like that.

One big difference people have trouble with when switching to a modern stove is that wide open doesn't give you the most heat. But yes it will destroy a stove. They put out much more heat shut back more so you get good secondary combustion.

Y pipe setups usually don't work well. Especially with modern stoves where the air can't be completely shut down. You would be better off with the stoves next to each other and two different pipe setups you can switch out quickly

Yeah I ended up keeping the old pipe set up intact for a quick changeover if needed.

I don't know about that, "too long" can be an issue when it bottoms out.

Just a friendly reminder that everybody will see more often, and also for newer members that are not familiar with this tool here.

It is apparently in reference to me because talking about codes and safety seems to be offensive to some here.

Ok, I just going to lay my thoughts out there. I have no problem with the info you are providing. However, the way it come across is irritating to me(and apparently others.)This is an open forum and you are welcome to say what you want. In my opinion if your approach was different people would be more accepting to your message. In my opinion you are a valuable resource for fhc’rs. Perhaps offer your concerns via pm so people don’t feel called out? I hope you stick around...

Well when I am told by a moderator that sweeps are clueless it might make make me a bit confrontational. When I am pinged into a conversation about codes by a different moderator only to be told they didn't want to hear my comments that may do the same. Atleast that time the mod apologized to me for his actions. I treat people with the same respect I am shown.
