Interesting test of 6 different brands on a Harman P68.. Pretty thorough... No. it;s not me....guy does many how to videos on pellets stoves..
That was funny. I like his comment at the end the turmans are the only ones that actually smell like real wood, lol. Just a curiosity - wonder why he tested with 60lbs of each pellet as opposed to 40lbs? Did he mean to say 40lbs all along or did he really go out of his way to measure up 60lbs of each? We got to get him over to Bucks Pellets to grab a variety of softies for the next test!
I,m on his website so i will ask him. Curious myself. Think i would have burned at bit higher temp but he used stove mode and was prob due to this warm spell we have had lately.
Hmm seems like the Turmans did best on a low burn which is how my stove mostly runs, may have to try and track down some for next season.
My Stove dealer down here in Levittown area sells the Turmans. I don't think he wants to deal with me because I get my stash from bucks pellets. He only sells two Brands and his delivery cost is ridiculous especially since the warehouse where he keeps his pellets is less than a quarter mile from my house and he could probably throw them to me at that point.
Well, while Turman isn't a bad pellet, there's a lot better. I find Turmans "clump" more in the burn pot, for lack of a better term.......maybe I am spoiled from the softies.....
I love dealing with people who buy pellets elsewhere! As for a delivery charge.....I don't know whats "ridiculous", but it does cost a fair amount to deliver, and I don't know that the small margin a dealer makes in pellets (yea, I know you guys don't believe me there!), can cover the cost of such delivery.
we kind of do the same.....the base fee, then a bit more for 2 tons, 3 tons, and 4 tons.....but our max fee is set at the 4 tons.....so, if someone wanted, say, 6 tons, they pay the same as 4....up to 14 tons, which fills the truck. We also have different rates depending on how far away the customer is.
Ok. So if I wanted one ton delivered, and I live so close to you that the truck would never get out of second gear say less than a quarter-mile, I would expect a little bit of a break especially since I bought my stove from your company. But my stove/pellet dealer is firm on his delivery price. $85.
....but you wouldnt get one. Subjective pricing because someone bought a stove from us is a slippery slope. Which stove? How long do I have to give "special" delivery pricing? How far away are you? Yep...we don't give breaks for delivery either. If its THAT important, come and get the pellets, and pay ZERO for delivery.
