Found this big guy locally and picked him up. P&C look good, pops on first pull everytime, starts on second or third and runs strong. I've done a little cleaning up on it but dirtied it up a bit again doing some test cuts and tuning. He's a strong old boy!! More cleaning to do then probably gonna re-home this one.

Last year or two of production for this legendary muscle saw was 1999-2001ish.The Lite version was same displacement as the original 1988-1998 288XP,just missing the 7th mount anti-vibe spring/stiffener on the front & they have springs for anti-vibe instead of the rubber mounts.Plus less likely to see a Lite with the high top high performance air filter & cover.

Eat your Wheaties, you'll need 'em. ;)

I love my Husky 288, WOW she sure has power...
No De-Comp, so black coffee and snuff sure help to crank her over.

According to the serial number it was built week 31 of 1988.Owned it 3 years, got it from retired faller in Oregon.Cleaned it up a bit,few new parts +dual ported the muffler.I like it even better now than when first getting it. 28" .050 gauge bar/skip chain stays on it 90% of the time.

36" White Oak is no problem for this beast.
