Pretty day after a short cold spell. The highs are in the low 60s and the stove has gone cold. Decided to clean up the stack area.

I used about 6.5 stacks so far this season, there are 9 more lined up between the trees. Each stack was 10' long, about 6.5' high and average 18" wide. That comes out to burning 5 full cords, a little shy of my 6 cord a year average. The difference this year is I only burned about 600 lbs of anthracite coal, I normally burn about 1.5 tons. We did not have the intense cold spells we usually have so I did not light the coal stove very often.

With the end of the season also comes the end of my "winter" water views.

The buds are developing on the trees so soon we will not be able to see the harbor below the house.

One 60 degree day doesn’t mean the seasons over. Or does it?

A couple cold shots on the weekends followed by 50s during the week on the longer range weather models. Bummer for skiing. I wouldn't be surprised if the snowfall came in hard for March. One of those months were there is a 10-20" storm every Monday or something weird.

One may not but I’ve had about half a dozen 60+ days so far

I've already had a number of 60+ degree days this season also. The rest of this week is forecast well above normal with lows above freezing. Then next weekend brings in March. Probably going back to shoulder season burning, small hot fires morning and evening and the stove going cold between.

I don't feel like this season ever started and now it is winding down.

Can certainly agree with that. I let my stove go out plenty this winter and never had the furnace on. I used lots more fire starters than most years.

It started here with a bang, then fizzled. Maybe 10" since December 2nd.

Forecast was 2-3" and what I woke up to...
