Last September i scored some logs from a ladies back yard. She offered me a blown over hickory from the 2018 tornado. Good sized just off the road but well overgrown with weeds/vines/prickers etc. I'd come back in the Winter when they die off. I went by today to check it out and maybe start on it soon. Found this next door. Looked like it was cut yesterday. I stopped, knocked on the door. Homeowner comes out and i get the okay to take what i want and use the saw as well. Went home (5 minutes away) grabbed the 261 and went back.
Under two hours to cut and load then off to my friends to unload. Only the trunk sections left behind. Bucked a few bigger rounds. IMG_1911.JPG IMG_1912.JPG
Easy to spot these luckily IMG_1913.JPG
Been a while since ive cut a buZZsaw load. IMG_1915.JPG

One log had a piece of pvc conduit. I asked the guy and he said it was his flagpole.

thought this friction scar was cool IMG_1920.JPG

Some small dead ill give to my friend. IMG_1922.JPG
usual nuggets from a roadside score. Ill give him those and the gnarly rounds.

The original hickory that ill eventually go back for. IMG_1914.JPG
Wasnt planning on cutting any wood today, just splitting and stacking in my main PA which ive been neglecting. Couldnt pass this up, would you?

Way to get at it yet again Buzz. One of these days I should get off of my ash to come up with a score or two.

Wood is wood, unless it's elm or gum...

    Nice get.

No, I would not pass that up! That would be like finding gold in my neck of the woods. I've cut hardened steel screws and nails like those before too.
Not sure which is worse! Glad you (evidently) avoided them.[/QUOTE]

I had thought about taking the 460 and bucking them up, but one is rather gnarly and i dont wanna hit nails either. Im content with what i got today. Wanna hit my locust score for a bit tomorrow.

If have done the same. That hickory isn't going anywhere soon. Plus, you'll be back soon to grab the hickory anyways.

Awesome score, Brad! That there is one fully loaded truck! Nice to have a full bed filler score every now and again, huh? Been a long time since I’ve had a scrounge that filled the truck as well. A Buzzsaw load. Haha.

Loads like this were common for me last year. I had a big log deck in the Spring and Asplundh last fall.
