You got to be inland with oak and beech. This near shoreland woods are Red/Soft Maple, Paper/White Birch, and the usual Spruce nd Fir. Hey, you better take that 66F seriously...or else. Where are you where 66F is NOT chilly ?
65 - 70 is my favorite temperature range, with low dew points. The wife prefers 75-80 and a bit sticky . She likes the stove room and I head upstairs when I get overheated. It’s that county blood coursing through my veins. Either that or I’m just cold blooded.
Not so cold overnight at 13. Up to 30 now. Great! Tomorrow supposed to hit 40. Another beautiful sunny day.
A little warmer than forecast at 35ºF. Burning the last of my oak cut-offs. Mostly sunny day and the solar gain on the south side of the house is pretty good. We get into some warmer weather after tonight and then several days of rain. No solar gain usually means 'feels cold' and more short duration pine/spruce fires. Gotta work on the pine supply this weekend as it is getting very low.
Yeah, for some gardeners it can mean trying to hold plants back from being planted because the ground is cooler than it usually is and/or threats of frost. It's nice to put Winter clothes away in Spring rather then Summer too.
We had a wonderful evening out a friend, supper and drinks. Came home to 20* and coals, Pine brought them to life and Sugar Maple took the role of making heat.
25F now. Heading for nearly 40F ! Should be a great day. Couple more hours on this Elm load from supper last night. Might do a Pine load for the heck of it to reduce the Elm coals/ash. Feels like we may have made the turn towards spring weather. Can only hope! I did just now load P.I.F. Instant light off. Fully involved load in a couple minutes. This stuff is soooo easy.
It is going to be warm here too, but single digits by the end of the week, and you aren't that far away. At any rate we have longer days and spring is getting closer!
Ya we will have some single digits overnight towards the tail end of next week. Highs in the low to mid 20's however. I'll take that. No big storms either.
26, ash is both stoves. Hoping to get out and run the saw for a bit today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
13 here now. With the sunshine helping, it did reach the upper 30's yesterday! A nice "January (?) or spring thaw for us! Hope today is the same.
13 here and 74 inside. Headed for the upper 30’s today and 40 tomorrow and Monday. The sun feels nice this time of year. Great weekend for to replenish the inside wood stacks.
13f and foggy as all get our here, but heading to 40 today! Oak in the boiler. Would be a nice day to cut wood, but right now my back is out and doing some nice spasms at work this morning, so I'm thinking cutting is not in my forcast for today
Once again you were warmer than us! It happens now and then. Presently 38 and forecast low 40's. Sunny again and breezy but not as much wind as yesterday.
Sunrise on my home lake this morning. I don't know how cold it was exactly, but the snow was squeaky and there was a haze of frozen ice crystals hanging low to the surface, which was really pretty to see in person. The picture from my old slider phone isn't too bad, but doesn't do it justice. I was burning liquid propane in the fish house stove.
