23 Looks like the high for today. Chunk of hardwood with what’s left over from last night and about 10 shovels of mill waste off the floor
-2 now unless the temp dropped in the last hour. It'll get to the mid single digits today and that's it.
Ive had 30 to 50mph winds for 24 hours. I did not go negative because 40 mph south winds kept temperatures up.. IMO. 12 degrees and a 37 mph wind feels worse than -5 and calm
Breezy and 45°. Burning cherry and pine. Going down to mid 20’s tonight so I’ll pack up with some white oak and beech
7F @7AM. Not going to exceed 14F today. Loading Elm now. Still toasty inside at 69F. Kinda odd that I heard songbirds on the porch early this AM? Normally that is a surefire indication that spring is coming in a hurry? They may be confused
Old Maine saying: " There's a big difference between the first day of Spring and the first Spring day." We've had stoves going off and on even in June--fog, damp, 50's F. Love it.
Cold tonight, even colder tomorrow and tomorrow night. 38ºF outside right now, but it feels colder with a steady northerly cold breeze. Probably light a fire here in a little bit. Try to stay ahead of the outside temp drop. Red wing black birds are back.
21f right now. 73f inside. Still using up the red oak. Yesterday I topped off the indoor wood bin hopefully for one of the last times this season with ash and maple. Filled should give me about a month. Might have to toss a cart or two worth in to get me through the cool spring nights.
13* here, the coals roared to life with the door cracked open. Added some Pine and Cherry and away we go!
You guys that are hoping spring is coming soon. I hope it gets here soon as well. But. Do you remember how late winter temperatures have stayed lately?
Good old mother nature handed out another surprise last night. Sitting at -12 this morning. Not that cold I know, but I feel the cold weather more so now than earlier in my life (as when I was working in it).
