I live in a relatively urban area. So while working on the car I heard a chainsaw running somewhere in the neighborhood. Stopped immediately to take the dogs for a walk to try to find a possible scrounge. Saw stopped by the time I got near. Never found out exactly where it came from.

I was going to drive but was working on the car and would have had to put it back together. And it would have been creepy walking by without dogs

How about a wheelbarrow with chain saw, maul, axe, wedges etc. That would look just fine!

You need to buy a drone. As soon as you hear a saw send up the drone and you can see where the saw is running.

:) I live on top of a hill. Can hear an average chainsaw for two miles. Chippers 3 or 4. Conditions pending.
Getting pretty proficient at localizing those noises. Even though I’m inundated with wood I’ll still hop in the car to go scope it out.
This is normal behavior. Fire any therapist that tells you different. I certainly have.

You know, come to think of it, if someone was heading toward my place with all that gear I'd be out by the logs and stacks pretty quick (well, as quick as I could).

TRy to keep in mind there will be other opportunities.
Don't lose any sleep over having missed this one.
    There really will be others.
    You can't get them all.
    We must share.

Oh, and work on that stacking problem.

I've scored a few cords over the years, just like that.

Always follow the sweet sound of a chain saw running nearby.
