I've got chainsaw chaps and muff style hearing protection that I never run a saw without, and steel toed boots that go on when I will be working for more than a few minutes. I also have safety glasses and a face mask, don't wear either as they constantly fog up. Got mesh goggles on the way to remedy the situation.

What about you guys? Pics if you got them.

Usually chaps and steel toed boots but I some times forget my chaps (getting old)
The hard hat is needed when I cut down trees, small branches hurt the head.

I always have on eye protection and either ear plugs or muffs. I also have a problem with fogging lenses so I'm really considering the mesh goggles. I also have a pair of chaps that I'm trying to get into the habit of wearing...they were so stiff when I first got them I was more worried I'd trip and fall on my saw so at first I'd only wear them for 15 minutes at a time. They're starting to break in now. I also have a pair of steel toe boots, but I rarely wear them. I have some serious Fred Flintstone feet, and have yet to find a pair of steel toes that doesn't cut off circulation to my toes after 30 minutes, even in wide sizes.

Ear plugs and glasses 100% of the time. I have a pair of chaps I picked up cheap at an auction a couple years ago but haven't even tried them on yet. :emb:

Ordered some chaps from Tree Stuff. Got them yesterday. They were missing the straps and buckles on one side of the right leg.

Called Tree Stuff, and Lindsey is sending out a new set, & said just to keep the ones I have now instead of sending them back.

That is what I call awesome customer service.

So once the chaps arrive I'll add them to the steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs I currently wear. I also ordered a set of the wire mesh goggles from tree stuff for $4.95. Not to sure they fit well enough over my glasses, so the jury is still out on them.

Not sure how I missed this thread, good question. I wear eyes, ears and work gloves mostly. I always have work boots on and generally speaking I'm usually just bucking tree length, I don't take down many trees.
Now to ask a question, I'd like to consider a nice pair of chaps to save on beating up all my jeans. What do most cutters like?

I like the ones Nixon sent me-- blue Husqavarna wrap-a-rounds. I forget I am wearing them.

Mine are the generic ones tree stuff sells. I wore them yesterday, and they were comfortable, and fit well. Although a little warmer than just jeans they were not overly warm.

Glasses and ear plugs for any cutting. Are hat for falling. Chaps in thick brush sometimes. I don't like chaps as I can't get a pair to fit my legs right. The upper part won't buckle on my Forester/woodland pro ones. They end up tangled or spun around more than anything.

Glasses and boots. I have a hard hat for when I am dropping trees, which I haven't done much of lately. These ash trees around here (half dead), are like playing with a loaded gun when you are taking them down. I have quite a few to do this fall yet..

Heavy steel toed boots with deep lug soles always,(have been wearing them for 30 years, before OSHA made it mandatory on most jobsites even),corded ear plugs always, safety glasses either clear or dark over prescription impact resistant eyeglasses always.Heavy leather or cut-resistant gloves, either lined or unlined depending on the season.

Forestry helmet with mesh shield when felling (had swivel earmuffs some years ago but the mounts broke off, prefer plugs instead actually). When felling I don't wear ear protection - I want to hear any cracking, popping or any twigs coming down.Don't forget to LOOK UP!!!! quite often, always be ready to drop the saw & have your escape path planned ahead of time...

I converted an old pair of boots to makeshift calk boots for when the steep slopes I'm usually on are wet, muddy or snow/ice covered. Works very well & will do until I can spend the $300+ on a real pair sometime.

Gloves, forestry helmet with mesh face shield & muffs, and chaps. A whistle when I'm working with someone else on occasion.
